Has anyone else had this happen?

I've just checked my bank accounts and one account (one that I dont really use at all), has had two payments made to it today

A total of £38 has been deposited into the account, one of the deposits has Account Correction. COM21. Paid Gross, as the description and the other has Account Correction. COM21. Paid Net, as the description. ??

What the devil is that all about, I barely use this account, I mean I dont mind if someone wants to throw money into my account, if they want they can throw a lot more in :) , but I just wondered what the hell it was.

Sorry I transferred it by mistake. If I send you my account details would you mind sending it back? kthxbye :D

Lloyds by any chance?

If so, they failed to send out letters explaining you could have saved money by switching to another product or service, but as you didnt get it (because they failed to send it), they worked out what it would have saved you and credited you the difference.

Why don't you phone your bank and ask them what it is?

Halifax, but maybe they do something similar

Mainly and quite selfishly because if its an error I'd rather keep the money :D
If it is an error the it will likely be discovered soon enough and the amount deducted. Moreover, if you knowingly believe the money is not yours, dont inform the bank and spend the money then you can be in legal trouble. But first such a small.amount it is meaningless obviously. Just note that money erroneously deposited in your bank account is not automatically yours

No worries, I dont know for certain that its not mine so no worry on that front and if it ends up being an error and they deduct it again thats fine as it means I neither lose nor gain. If however its an error and they dont deduct it then I'm up 38 notes, a christmas banking bonus if you will :D

I got money back from Halifax recently as they did not advise me that they would charge me for using my overdraft in 2 different months so refunded me the overdraft fee + interest. It was from like 3 years ago or something too.
