Who's going to win it then? It's just started and the six sportsmen for the top prize are on stage. I'm sure it has to be Lewis Hamilton, first brit to ever win five Formula 1 championships.

Hamilton for me as well. Thomas rank outsider.

Edit: Arnold though defended her Olympic title, not many do that.

Probably never. I could be wrong but I don't think Snooker would ever be considered as a major enough sport. It's probably not seen to be in the same league athletically and internationally as all the other sports chosen.

I would have said back in the 80s and early 90s snooker was a much bigger sport than it is now.

Quite possibly, but to have won the titles he's won over the years he's been a top level performer is incredible. He's still the best in the world at 43 years old.

I’m also fuming that Ronnie is ignored again. How many of the sports stars nominated are the greatest of all time in their sports? None. Ronnie is the king. 25 years at the top. He should be recognised.

Did Phil Taylor ever get a nomination?

Taylor came 2nd one year, maybe 2010? I remember Tony McCoy won that year.

There is a reason why Taylor didn’t get a mention and he’s retired. It was getting increasingly difficult to hide his personal life
