Bloodhound SSC

Size 8 font lol

Guess you aint gonna be seeing that in the final pic :P

yeah I know rofl, but who cares - I'd donate anyway tbh,

Andy Green is a seriously cool guy, I don't know anyone who could stay so calm when accelerating from 0-600+mph in 16 seconds..

The cool thing is, that this time around the cameras/reporting should be so much better,

Mmm just seen this and I'm pretty disappointed. They just need £25m to get it over the line! I want to know what the hell they need £25m for.

I donated when they started the project, £10 I think, and would probably do so again, but they're going to need quite a few donations!

I paid £40 to get my and my son's names on the tail fin. If they dust off that same plan the font is going to be pretty small if the fund raising is successful!

Disappointing to hear, really looking forward to this running. However it is not surprising that they are struggling for cash flow. Although a noble project in what they have achieved, encouraging science and engineering in the new generation, a 1000mph rocket+jet powered car dosnt have much in the way of real world application and i suspect finding large companies to help fund would be difficult.

Reading into it, I'd make the assumption that the final 25m would cover operational, logistical and general maint/part costs etc for the three years, 2019 full power jet test runs, the full jet/rocket runs in 2020 and the push for 1000mph in 2021. As it appear much of the design work has been done, however wouldnt be surprised if there further refinements to the design after they make the first full power jet runs at Hakskeen.

Let's bump this back up.

Bloodhound is now out on Haskeen Pan to do the first round of runs, building up to around 500mph.
No rocket engine at this point, just going to be the jet engine, but still good for ~500mph. Moved under her own power for the first time on the desert on day 9.

Videos are on youtube.

They're building this on one of the campuses at the college I work. Quite nice actually that the engineering students get to see this up close and personal.
I was actually fixing some kit at this campus the other day but unfortunately the beast has been taken for testing in Africa so I didn't get to see it. There was a full size model in its place though. Blummin massive tbh

If they're going for the world land speed record, they should just take an Astramax van over there. Everyone knows that's the fastest vehicle on the roads :D
