Hugo Boss refused to offer refund

I have always bought clothes then taken them home to see if I want them or not, that way you can get a second opinion and see what they look like out of a changing room. I imagine if you speak to most women they regularly take clothes back.

That’s more common with online, if you feel you need to try the clothes on outside the changing room too or getting a second opinion then perhaps you’d be better off making use of online shopping.

I'm surprised they didn't offer a refund - what if it was a gift that didn't fit or something? I've routinely swapped shop purchased clothes that have been presents without any issues.

I will happily go on a shopping sprees at a store in the belief that I can take things back and more likely spend more money there. Pretty sure major retailers like H and M and Zara have a zero fuss returns policy.

For me, I won't buy from them out of principal any more.
Just to return the items you don't want, and end up spending less then someone who goes in and buys what they want....

Don't buy stuff you don't want or with the intention that you aren't sure and so buy first return later if you truly don't like. More specifically don't do this with sale items, no return on sale items is very much standard.

I miss working in retail.
'I KNOW MY RIGHTS' (no you don't)
'THE LAW SAYS I'M ENTITLED TO A REFUND (no you're not)

So much fun, all day every day. They should teach basic consumer law in school so this kind of thing doesn't happen.
Extra points if you used the words 'rights, law, disgusting' at the shop when trying to return them :p

Also, with Sports Direct - why is it disgusting that they want you to pay for returns that YOU decide you don't want any more? Not their fault you're too lazy to try them on in a shop.

They don't hold all the sizes in-store so if you want to order one in you need to pay a delivery charge and then can't return for a refund if they don't fit (which is pretty common with shoe sizes varying between brands). Amazon has changed the game with customer expectations on refunds, if other stores can't match it then they shouldn't be surprised if customers leave them. Take the new Amazon wardrobe service for example, that has been launched specifically for people who want to try before they buy as its what most consumers want. The days of having to go to a shopping centre / high street in the hope that they have your size in stock are long gone.

called it, your other half said you look like a plum in your new hugo boss trousers didn't he/she?

did your other half laugh at you when you put them on or something

what principal.....you bought some clothes, you thought you looked like a dapper dan but you've since been told you look like a bell in them. you now want to return them for a refund and the store are saying, nope but you can have an exchange (are they offering store credit?)
there's no principal involved here really imo. you bought them cause you liked the look of them, just man up and wear them.....i'd be more apt to bin off your other half or whoever mocked your dress sense ;)

i think the below might be quite accurate! :p
So are you a woman?

Its a myth that shops have to give you a refund for clothes you simply dont want.

They actually don't at all. There is no law that dictates they have to, and its a goodwill gesture if they do.

This ^^^^. I worked in retail for 4 years.

You're only entitled to a refund if the items were not as described or faulty.

That's for all items. There's no special return/exchange/refund rules related to items "On Sale".

On a couple of occasions at the PC Superstore I offered particularly obstinate customers suffering buyers remorse free use of our phone to call Citizens advice so they could explain it to them ... :D

Well, now that I know my "rights" I think I'll buy a high end gaming PC from OcUK to see how my games look in 4K and then return it and get all my money back because I "didn't like it". If I like, I should be able to get through the rest of my life never spending money on anything other than consumables. Sweet! I'll save a fortune.

Oh my yes, "disgusting". It's amazing how easily some people are "disgusted". I sometimes have happy fantasies of defecating on their feet and saying "That's disgusting. See the difference?"

It's not disgusting if you're a professional scatologist and happen to be a coprophiliac rolled into one, or a two as may be the case.

I power shop for clothes. I know my size and will tend to buy lots of items in one go. I try nothing on but on occasion I will take an item back. I tend to shop in a small selection of shops and I’ve never had an issue returning anything.

Customer service is actually just excellent in most places. Shops are happy to take a hit on returned items to preserve goodwill.

You're doing it wrong, OP. You need to get suited and booted in a Hugo Boss classic, stride confidently to the counter and ORDER them to issue a refund.

And whilst you're at it you may as well inspect their papers too.
