Hi all,

I would like to get back into PC gaming. Haven't really played on PC for around 10 years and totally clueless about current PC specs.

My PC is like Frankenstein's monster ATM. A few parts have failed on me but I have been kindly donated a few parts to get my PC back up and running so would like to reuse most of it.

Current spec is
AMD 7 1700
Gigabyte AB350m gaming 3
8GB of DDR 4 not sure on what type.
Evga 1000g psu
ATI 280 GFX
Samsung Po SSD (I think)
Cheap case
1080 monitor

Can this CPU and Mobo be the base for a decent PC?
Would like some RGB bling and a window in the new case lol.
Could possibly have a budget of 400-500 on GFX, case, KB and mouse? Obviously less the better.

Don't mind buying a new display in a few months.

Is it even worth while? I game on a PS4 pro but there's just some games that feel better on PC.

It's a single Kingston 1060 stick.

Parts came from mining rigs hence why it's a bit of a mishmash.

Might be wrong about that. The part number is KHX2133C14D4/8G

Just been handed a second stick of 8GB.

It's HyperX Fury DDR4 2133. So that's a matching pair. Any use?

Also just had a brief look at the Vega 54. That and my CPU sho handle games fine at 1440?

Your stick of memory is only 2133 MHz, better go with a new kit of 3200 MHz modules.
The Vega 64 will be fine at 1440p.

As above 16gb (2 x 8gb) memory kit 3200 is best and Vega 64 would be useful. Also the 1700 will overclock to 3.7ghz on the cooler it comes with , with no problems to help in gaming performance. Just be careful of power and temps. Make sure you update your bios to get best speed out of the 3200 memory.

Try and overclock your current 2133 Ram and see if you can get it to run any faster (3000 - 3200 would be nice). Maybe start a thread in the memory or overclocking section etc if you want help with that. Not something I have ever done myself or I would assist.

Someone having issues with that 3000MHz Teamgroup on a Gigabyte B450 board.

Thanks for the help so far.

I plan on upgrading my screen at a later date to 1440p.

Very picky with displays.

Realy like the look of the coolermaster H500 cases but there's so many models with different letters at the end and they mostly look like the same lol

Forgot how addictive PC building and gaming can be. Started looking at gaming chairs etc
