Socialism and Equal Rights are not the same thing. Right Wing is about Equality of Opportunity. Left Wing is about Equality of Outcome. We do and always should, support the former. Equal Rights ensure Equality of Opportunity. They are a good thing.

To my point, beautifully. You can have ambition, which anyone in their right mind would support, but equal rights relies on equal people and that simply does not exist and never has and never will. If you give everyone the same opportunity they will not all end up in the same place.

This is a more germane point than talk of machine-gunning refugees (who are often in a very bad situation). Who funds the people traffickers? Known NGOs. Why aren't the people traffickers arrested and dealt with? THAT's who you target if you want this dealt with. Arrest them and impound their boats. Rather than inhumanely fire shots at people who have genuine refugees, women and children amongst them.

Of course they wont. But that's not the point. Equal Rights isn't equal outcome or equal wealth. Equal Rights says "you can apply for this job whether you are a man or a woman, whether you are Black or you are White". And that's a good thing. Equal Rights don't say "this board of directors must be 50% men, 50% women, 50% Black, 50% White..." etc. I'm saying don't throw the baby out with the bathwater and don't become a mob like the modern day Left. Equality of Opportunity is a laudable thing. And it's different to the Left's Equality of Outcome which isn't compatible with Equal Rights at all despite their pretence that it is.

Again, they’re not genuine refugees. They are in a perfectly safe country and are choosing to try and enter Britain for economic reasons.

It’s at this point they become economic migrants. Refugees shouldn’t be able to pick and choose what country they settle in.

Very few of the migrants passing through Europe are genuine refugees. They are mostly opportunists and we can't accommodate everyone looking for free ****.

If they get picked up trying to cross the channel they should either be sent back to France or put on a plane and sent home.

There should be zero tolerance on people entering the country illegally. It’s the only way to deter people. Just make it clear that there is no way you will stay in the country if you enter illegally. You will be sent back to whence you came.

Same goes for the lot who are found in the back of lorries.

Is it just Iranians? Because i don't mind. As usual sanctions end up hurting the lowly folk more than achieve it's actual purpose, it's only just that we take in people that we've literally hurt economically if they've decided to travel this far, and if their Urban Iranians, they'll be highly educated.

Some of them are. And in any case, I stand by my comment that what we need to do is arrest the traffickers and impound their vessels. This is what would have an effect. Not talk of shooting migrants.

If they are in France, a safe country, why don’t they stay there? Why try and get to Britain?
