Royalist or Republican?

Of course we are, and it takes two seconds to check, im not really sure why some people are trying to lie about it just because its a few pence lololol (yea times 65million)

It is indeed "lol". Lol at how bent out of shape you are over a measly amount of your money for the upkeep of an important part of our nation. I wonder what your reaction is for the real big wastes of your money? Billions wasted by our government on: computer blunders; NHS mismanagement; waste mismanagement; police PR (!?); sale of social housing; an overpriced war debt; and the incessant lobbying and campaigning that most of that time consists of just lies!

Ive got a gold guilded Steinway in my hall and a platinum harp in my summer house. My neighbour died 4 years back and Prince Edward came to say goodbye in a church 100 yards from my house I share a drive with. We should be pen pals :)
WUT!? WHY HAVE YOU NOT DONATED ALL THIS ALREADY AND LIVING IN A GUTTER. YOU ARE TO BLAME FOR MY UPHEVALS!!11

If we're not paying for the Royal Family through our taxes, then that changes my position somewhat as I'd always believed we were. I shift a little from antipathy to apathy (though I still object to their having political power). However, it seems unlikely to me that state funds are not spent on the Royal Family, so I'd need to look into it myself before I was quite convinced.

I supplied links above detailing what is spent on the royal family and where this funding comes from. You just need to read it. I have no doubt that some tax payers money for things like protection officers from the police etc is ‘spent’ indirectly but I’ve yet to hear of the government giving money directly to them. This is no different to policing at major public events though as the Police provide this as a public service.

I am a supporter of the royal family in general, they do a lot of good things for the country and are universally well respected around the world. I’m no huge royalist though, I don’t go around waving a Union Jack when there’s a royal wedding for example. I just like to provide verifiable facts about them, as I do whenever I see prejudice or mistaken opinions as fact.

If I was going to create a brand new country in 2018, I wouldn't have a Royal Family, but I wouldn't suggest we get rid of the Royal Family we have in the UK as the arrangement we have seems to work well.

I was offered £2M for my two and turned it down. Apparently one of them was used by Mozart and the other one by, erm hang on let me Google someone famous.....yes. by Kim Kardashian!

I can see what you're doing but it's also incredible how these posts of yours mimic tweets of a current world leader.

I really wish someone would crunch the numbers conclusively, backed with concrete evidence to demonstrate the actual and final cost of the Royals to Great Britain. This should include any tourism related income generated by them as I suspect it's a fairly hefty number in comparison to what they "cost".

There are however enough variables to make this quite a daunting task and not one I feel confident (read: arsed) enough to do.

I've never gotten the negativity towards the Royals. As someone who has lived in a country with no monarchy (South Africa) and a half-arsed sort-of monarchy in little more than name (Holland) I can very clearly see the social and financial advantages they bring. Just look at Kate's wedding, half the country put all their differences aside, hung up the bunting and had a party, it was fantastic.

The royals might not be the be all and end all of British culture but they certainly make enough of a positive impact to warrant their roles.

It's not exactly concrete but it's a good summary!

The fact we have Royals taking millions out of the coffers each year during "austerity" pretty much sums up my thoughts on the establishment.

But...bu but but they bring in MORE money. Do they? Who gets that money? The same Government who is to blame for this austerity?

Nah, not a fan.

I was waiting for the crap analogies to come out to try and deflect, thanks for being predictable! xD

Are we talking about any of those things? No. The subject is the royal family.
