Never tip in Chinese restaurant?

I don't tip, and I'll happily get them to remove unsolicited service charges. If they want more money, raise prices. If the food is good, it doesn't bother me.

Take-outs I get, a quid here and there depending on total pig-out BUT postie and bin men? Lines have to be drawn my friend.

And that is why you dont get your bin emptied when its too full or the extra bags you put out along side it taken away ;)

You're right, perhaps I don't. Then again, with just my wife and I our bins are never more than half full each week but we do allow our neighbours, a family of five to use our bins on the proviso they never fill them to the top. Thanks for your concern though.

Ours do and I don't tip them.
Maybe I should stop making sure the cameras that go on aircraft aren't always perfectly focused, afterall Boeing and Airbus don't tip me.

I never tip when it's on the card machine, I hate that when it's on the first screen and you have to press through it to pay the bill but do sometimes give a waiter/waitress cash if the service has been really good.

It was, I've never actually been to London before and we all can pay cash up here... :o

I remember getting on a bus in Birmingham a couple of years ago and realising technology hadn't changed on the busses since I was a school kid, so backwards and inefficient... - still had to put some change into a slot by the driver (and of course not possible to give change if you didn't have the exact fare), no card machine to just tap etc..

If you order regularly from a takeaway its worth tipping to get priority on your delivery. If I was going out with 2 or 3 orders and I knew all the addresses because they were regulars I'd always prioritise people who usually gave me money. If I was slower to them there's a chance I wouldn't get money so it would be my loss.

I never carry cash so rarely tip. Way I see it is that it's their job and I don't get tipped for mine (and despite being over min wage I've worked plenty of min wage jobs). Also I eat a lot in restaurants and expense it and am not allowed to expense tips.

I will just add this. For the last, at least 6 years, we go for Christmas dinner to our local Italian which we go to a lot and are on first names terms with all the staff. Obviously on Christmas day you expect a premium. This year it was £60 for a 3 course meal which is always good. We always leave a tip but this year there was a 10% service charge. In normal conditions I would leave 10% up to a max of about £20 unless it was a big group and then you all chip in. £35 tip for 5 of us including a 13 yr old. Sorry. Won't see you next year.

But also. never knew I was tipping the owners in chinese/indian. Always ask in a chain but just assumed otherwise. Will ask next time
