GF has just opened the window, it's freezing and when I asked why she replied: "It's to let the old year out".

Update: I've just discovered that the aforementioned open window also lets in the new year.

Lucky really, I'd have been unaware of this process and been stuck in time!

I do the front door to welcome the new year in. A fine old tradition. I saw a few other people doing it at midnight across the street as well.
