Right I’ve found a few bargains over the previous couple of months and fancied some advice. My 3930k runs at 4.7 with 2133 MHz ddr3 with tight timings. I picked up a Xeon on the bay hoping I could match the clock speed of the 3930k and exceed the ram speed (ram is sammy green so it is good for it) but I also picked up at 5820k and board from members market here..

What would you keep? Do?

i really liked the haswell e platform, but only if you get a later board with the voltages and socket with the extra pins to oc the cache properly.

Hmm I don’t know if I have that. It’s an Asrock extreme 4. Does Overclocking the cache make a lot of difference? I mainly play battlefield games which are all pretty cpu intensive

Edit it doesn’t look like I can do it... :(

No, cache overclocking does little to nothing in games, while benching my old 5960x it would make a huge difference in cinebench and actually reduce my 3dmark scores.

So unless you're benching a lot having the OC socket is neither here or there .

That was my understanding too, little real world benefits.
