I want to visit the oc shop.... BUT THERES A HITCH

Ginger haired bloke (Simon) is a top bloke, OC/UK isn’t in Stoke-on-Trent, it’s Newcastle-Under-Lyme - a significant difference, if I were in Wales I’d mail order (despite Simons great customer service) I’m not though and I can drive there and have my items in minutes.

Stoke-on-Trent or Newcastle-under-Lyme isn’t worth a trek from Wales - trust me - and as Feek says, it’s nothing spectacular, certainly not worth crossing “country’s” for. ;)

I'll 'fess up that I didn't know what Twitch was until a couple of years ago, then some of my YouTube channels started moving over to Twitch and that was when I realised what Twitch was.

With Uber, there is also Uber-Eats which was mentioned on this forum and I thought it was a joke as Just-Eat is the obvious one. I later realised that Uber-Eats does exist and it's a rival to Just-Eat.

Completely agree with the above posts, coming all the way from Wales just to see a PC outlet on an out of the way industrial estate is not worth the hassle. The only reason I go to the shop is because it's local and means I don't have to wait in for a delivery.

Just wish they'd get the MSI RTX2070 Armour back in stock so I can nip up and grab one. But they never seem to have any in stock at all.

100% this. Good for a mooch round if you have actually ordered something or buying something and you're just picking it up.

Not worth a trip just to look round the shop, especially all the way from Wales.

This. I'm half an hours drive away so it occaisionally makes sense to pick something up. I wouldn't get the train from Wales for a special visit.

They're just a few miles a part arnt they?

ok fair enough ill just keep it simple and not bother with the trip. Just thought could get more bang for buck if i went in and ordered components and got them to build it. im on £4280 to spend as of friday...or i.can wait a month and ill have about £5100. The systems look amazing on overclockers but some only have 1 tb m.2 with a 3tb mechanical hdd. Kinda want more than that if.im spending thousands.

I've been to OCUK 100's of times over the years, calling the shop staff unhelpful is simply untrue, particularly in recent years.

A friend and I went to look at an x34 monitor after confirming it was still in stock. When we got there we were told there was no way for them to plug it in so we could see it.
The store was empty, he had nothing else on, just couldn't be bothered.
We took the monitor over to one of the desktops on display and tested it out.
Walked away £800 lighter and grumpy.

That's a serious serious amount of money on a PC. Gonna be fun!

Back in the day there use to be a computer shop in Sandbach. The guy didn't like to help in anyway. I took a PC down there that I'd built myself, from parts built in store. He offered to test the pc but said it would be a week or two. I said it was defo ram and could he test that quicker. He said yes. I started to open the case and he went wierd and said I couldn't to anything in the store like that. Had to go to the car to pull that Ram out.

Kinda odd experience, but perhaps there is a health and safety aspect to it.

1) I've lived in Stoke for 60 years and never heard of Uber :) We mainly have cheap Asian taxi's.

2) There have been 5 shops: 3 at IMEX, 1 not far from the Talke roundabout on the A500 and the place they are now.
Strictly speaking the first shop was only ever called Millennium.

3) Don't think it's Mecca, it's basically like walking into a McDonalds and ordering stuff but there are bits and pieces on display.
OCUK should do a tour. At the 3rd shop at IMEX you could see all the 'office' people with Spie sitting in his office.

being from wales ...ive no idea what a uber is... guessing its a taxi? also whats station shall.i travel to?

Its a bit like a horse drawn cart, but uses an internal combustion engine to propel it

All the rage in larger cities outside of Wales

Ive been to the shop a few times last week.

Saw one bloke with a whole system with a RTX card and chuck it in the back of a taxi!

Then I sat on the car park and was amused as a chap wheeled out a gaming chair in this huge box on a set of wheels. He opened his boot, struggled like crazy to get the box off the wheels and onto the rim of his boot... only for it not to fit...

You can get free haribo from the shop as well.

The chaps on the counter are pretty good :)
