I've been around the block trying to finally decide on the Mobo and RAM for my 2700X coming tomorrow.

I originally looked at these:

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...ocket-am4-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-56z-gi.html

and

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...al-channel-kit-grey-tlgd416g30-my-087-tg.html

Which would save me a bit over the recommended 8 Pack RAM by nearly 80 quid.

I'm so torn and don't want to decide too soon.

I know they are not B Die, but should fine right? as long as I can hit 3000Mhz I'm happy, just thinking from a cost perspective. Also the board should have the latest BIOS too?

The Asus Prime X470 Pro was another board I looked at.

Edit: Should note I am aiming around £150 for RAM, £150 for board.

@Digital X

push the Aorus 5 , firstly for Wifi and secondly VRM set up is slightly different from Ultra. as always assumed they are exactly the same board but there not, Heatpipe layout for VRM shows this. Ultra has 2 low and 1 high mosfet for each of its 4 phases, Aorus 5 has 2 low and 2 high so is a full 4 phase set up .

plus have Gigabyte UK rma support.

3000hz should be fine

This kit is samsung b-die

but you;d have to use ryzen ram calculator to up the speeds to 3000hz plus .

I hit 3466hz with 8 pack kit on the Ultra board with Ryzen 2700, Aorus 7 hit 3800hz

@orbitalwalsh What BIOS version hit those mem speed levels ? I can't get past 3200 on my gaming 7 and I've tried quite a few timings, voltages etc.

F2 - using Ryzen ram calculator . not 100% stable to workstation applications mind - via ram tests etc. for gaming just fine .

Had a shocking ryzen 2700 core, wouldn't overclock above 4ghz on aorus and asus boards yet memory controller was fantastic! no 8-pack had 3-4 chips that could handle 4000hz stable it seems.

was told at the time not to update to F3 , and havent actually updated the bios since the board cam out.

Ram calculator is damn good ! mind you was using 4000hz 8 pack kit though sorry . And i do spank 1.7v through ram and High volts on CPU due to it being only used in short bursts and AMD supplied the cpu , so dont mind breaking it
