Hi

Just been burgled, the ******** actually cut the bottom half of my front door away and got in through that! (The Banham lock was well tested but proved too much for them)

Can anyone recommend a secure but not insanely expensive brand of front door at all please?

UPVC multipoint locking door can be had for a couple of hundred quids if you have a standard size door way. If you want super secure then get your wallet out and get a RockDoor

Is a RockDoor any more proof against a saw than any other composite door?

A UPVC door definitely isn't going to stop a saw.
What kind of saw? also depends on the construction of the door both UPVC and RockDoor can have a solid metal core making them very hard to breakthrough/cut.

TBH if someone has taken the time to cut your door in half then they were very determined to get in, windows and patio doors are far easier options for entry than cutting a door in half!

The cheek on them to do that, and no one noticed?!?!? As said get a composite, that door looks pretty thin hence they were able to make two cuts then kick it in, they wont do that with a good composite.

Door Stop and Solidor are the two we use.

I assume they used a battery powered grinder / mini circular saw for that.
Not sure why they didn't do a V cut around the lock though and that way could open the whole thing.
I remember calling out a locksmith, waiting 3 hours for them, only for him to pop a battery grinder out, and cut thru the bolt on the lock thru the gap between the door and the frame. 3 mins, £250 please mate.

Not that I condone burglary, that would have been terrifying for anyone if they were in the house at the time. Hope they catch the *******s.

.

Its a bit like when petrol powered disk cutters first became available (50's/60's?) Back then a securicor van was little more than a transit van painted blue with upgraded door locks

It completely changed the nature of payroll snatches.

Instead of trying to force the guards to open the doors or attempt to break through the door locks, The just cut a big hole in the side of the van.
