high CFM shower extractor

Do you have attic access, or is the fan going though the wall?

If you can get to the attic, then a decent in-line 4" fan is the best option. Swap the bulder-fitted fan with a plain vent, bit of pipe, inline fan, then hook up the existing pipe to the vent in the eves.

I got it from TLC Direct, was simple to wire. Works far better than the previous one that had the fan built in to the vent.

RVK fans are superb, and seem to last forever.
As above, fit it in the loft space. Ideally hang the fan, failing that bolt it to a large wooden board and place on the loft insulation (to offer some mechanical isolation, so fan vibration doesnt carry into the house).
Replace the ceiling extractor fan with a grill, run a rigid hose for as far as you can, but the connection into and out of the fan must be flexi (again, isolates vibration). Extract to the same place as currently.
Use rigid for as much length as you can reduces air noise, and keeps air speed up.. The flexi hose is great when you need it but REALLY slows the air down, traps dust and grime and makes a lot of air movement noise.

Ideally you want it to be controlled by a humidistat, this turns it on when humidity is high (ie when its needed).

This will shock you with how much air it can move!

If not sure about wiring get a sparky in to do it, ANY wiring in bathroom MUST be done by a spark. (loft doesnt...)

We have the black inline manrose unit - these can be added in series and parallel. The vent outside is 102mm iirc. Shifts enough you can feel the draught in the bathroom.

I have the same awsome piece of kit bye bye bathroom condensation.

I'm looking for an extractor as well but unfortunately I cannot get into the roof space without ripping the ceiling down or getting scaffold up and going in from outside. Are there any decent extractors which go out through the wall?

I have one of these performing extracting for both bathrooms, 100mm celing vents which go to 150mm flexible hose which is vented out of the facia boards. The only noise you can hear is the airflow.

But if you only have a single bathroom to vent I would get one of these

if you cant vent through the roof then this should fit in the hole in the wall then this will move more air than any manrose or explair fan

Thanks for the links. I'll have a look. Ideally I wanted to vent through the ceiling, but I cannot access the roof space easily. The item in the final link looks interesting.
