Cable through laptop hinges?

I'm currently attempting to replace the screen cable for a Lenovo 10 and have hit a bit of a wall.

Whilst I haven't removed the front side casing, it appears that the cable in question runs through the metal hinge. The various connectors attached would make threading said cable difficult if not impossible.

Am I missing something?

Pictures would help. In a case like this I tie or tape a piece of string to the end, pull it through, then I have the string to pull through the new cable. Hard to say without seeing what you’re talking about.
