Im looking for some advice on building a pc for my son . My knowledge of components/compatibility are limited. I've been using the system building options on OCUK and put together some parts that i think may be ok for him . Can someone tell me if the parts list below are all compatible/any good? Do i need any brackets/adaptions ? Or have any other tips or recommendations ?

Phanteks eclipse p400 glass midi tower
x470 aorus ultra gaming am4 ddr4 atx motherboard
ryzen 7 1800x am4 processor
hydro series h60 liquid cpu cooler 120mm
geforce 1050ti stormx 4096mb graphics
vengence lpx 16gb (2x8gb) ddr4 pc4-21300c16 2666mhz ram

The total cost just short of £800

Hi

What is the pc going to be used for ?

Do you just need the tower ? i.e Do you already have a Mouse/Keyboard and monitor etc ?

This will cost more than 800, and you are still missing PSU, SSDs or HDDs. Also, GTX 1050Ti is not a good choice. Rather direct to Sapphire RX 570 8GB.

The pc's main use will be games (probably GTA Fortnight FIFA etc) though will also be used for homework aswell (he's 14 soon). He has a old pc at the moment (dual core amd i think) so he doesnt need a mouse, keyboard, ssd etc .

He will need a new power supply unit.
Also, Ryzen 7 2700 is your choice.

Depending on what hard drives you have, might be needing at least one new, modern SSD.

Wont be needing hdd/ssd as he has 2 but i did forgot power pack tho  And thanks for the graphics suggestion i'll take a look at it .

I would aim for something like this.

The R5 2600 and RX 580 is a nice balance for a 1080p gaming pc. The cpu can always be changed in the future as AM4 has support until 2020. The gpu is easy to swap out once it starts to struggle.

The cpu has a pretty decent stock cooler, so no need to spend £60 on that when the money can be better spent elsewhere.

You would also need to factor in a copy of W10 (If you don't have a copy) as well if you don't want the annoying watermark that you get with running it unactivated. That would set you back £90+ but you might be able to find a cheaper product key elsewhere if you google.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £691.60 (includes shipping: £11.70)

That's a really nice setup and well balanced too. The gpu comes with a voucher that lets you choose two games as well.

Intel is faster then AMD at 1080p . IPC along with core speed .

Good difference in horse power between Vega and Polaris .
Deal on the Vega 56 to good to pass up .
Specially when 144hz 1080p Freesync screen can be had for £150 down the line

With any kid, tempered glass panel ! Acrylic scratches so easily ! And if vendors are selling glass with £50 cases, others need to follow :)
