Fractal Design Celsius or OCUK Techlabs AOI

Hi,

As the title really, deciding between the above 2 AOI in either 240mm or 360mm. The OCUK ones a cheaper but have less warranty. Can't find many reviews on them so was wondering it anyone could advised on the differences or which is better?

Will be going into a Ryzen build, only 2600 at the minute but plan to upgrade to Zen 2 when it is out.

First off, Fractal Design Celcius is a CLC which is a sub-group of AIO. They used to sell a Kelvin series that was not a CLC .. meaning it had threaded fittings, copper radiator and fill port so coolant could be topped up / serviced and components could be changed /added as needed. Celcius does not have these features.

Specifically, what OCUK Techlabs AIO are you referring to? All I know of are CLCs made by Asetek so not way to service or repair. Also Asetek does not give us the performance rating of their pumps, the flowrate and pressure/lift head. You know, like the cfm and static pressure rating we see for fans. ;) All AIOs I know of that are not CLC publish the pump flow rate and lift specifications so we know how much coolant the flow. ;) These include be quiet! Silent Loop series, Aphacool Aisbear series, and Swiftech H series. I have a Silent Loop 280 and like it. I got it in 2016, topped up coolant at about 8 months and changed coolant at about 16-18 months year. About 8 months later I topped up again and at 3 years will change coolant again.

Yea all CLC's, did look at the Alphacool ones that aren't but the cost with only a 2 year warranty put me off. Going for a custom loop works out too expensive so leaves me looking at CLC's. You guessed correct it is the Aestek ones. I appreciate air cooling at the same cost will provide better cooling but not what I am after this time for various reasons.

Length of warranty means little when it dies half way though and take 4 weeks to 6 months to get a replacement. In the mean time user has to get something else to be able to use computer, so often by the time warranty replacement arrives user has already bought a new cooler. ;)

To me many these long warranties are a gimmick to get comsumers to buy. Most users don't keep same system more than a couple of years anyway. ')

the OCUK is a gen 4 product. This isn't as good as the newer pumps and I wouldn't recommend it due to noise. The celsius units are gen 5 like the cryorig units are. I use an A40 ultimate on with my ryzen 1700. Also currently using an ID cooling frost flow 280mm AIO on my son's 2600.

remember than if you fit a 360 at the front you won't have decent airflow to the GPU.

Gotta love you arm chair critics who spout lots of opinions with no data or any other support information .. like what is the difference between Asetek gen 3, gen 4 and gen 5 pumps? What is their flow rate, lift /presure level vs Db noise level? Oh, I almost forgot that Asetek doesn't give us that information. The AIOs that are not CLC I listed do give us that information.

As for Cryorig CLC I have an A80 and could hear the pump with case on floor along side of desk so 4-5 feet away when case and GPU fans from idle to mid-load. Fans had to get above about 1000rpm before their noise level masked the pump's noise. I quit using it because of pump noise. U gave a be quiet! Silent Loop 280 in another system same case and same place and it is inaudible. Both are in room with 26-32dB ambient noise level which is as quiet or quieter than most rooms are .. as a comparison most low cost sound meters don't register noise at pressure levels lower than 30-32dB.

given that I have an OCUK unit in my computer there is nothing arm chair about it unless I'm in an arm chair using the computer. I can't hear my A40 pump with the computer case right next to me at 3am when I get up for work.

I guess your hearing may not be as good as mine, but I also use a good sound meter to measure actual sound level too. That and over the years I have tested literally so many coolers over the years I've lost count, from air to AIO to CLC. The first were the early heatpipe coolers like Thermalright Ultima 90 and Ulta 120 4x heatpipe tat came out back in 2007, 2008. I've also built and used many custom loops with first being aquarium/pond pumps and automotive radiators before custom loop components were even being sold as such. During this same time I got to know many of the people in the cooler industry working with them develop better and better cooing. Also did testing and reviews, actually still do some as an independent because I can get samples without being a member of any of the review sites. Hopefully that will give you a little better understanding of my knowledge and experience so when I make a statement with or without supporting data you will understand it is backed by years of research, testing and using of what I offer advice about in my posting .. and why other listen instead of being an armchair critic who has used a couple of coolers/clcs.

A youtube talking head dissembling one Asetek pump and supplying no performance data even for subject pump does not tell us what the differences are .. or more to the point what the performance difference is.

I did a quick scan and noticed he did say 'corsair spec plate' for baseplate, but gives no images of other baseplates for comparison.

So again, what are the differences between each generation of Asatek pumps?
