Thinking about arranging a weekend away to Stockholm. Anyone been?

Any thoughts an ideas on fun things to do?

Great place depends what you and you're friends do, we pretty much went for a pissup and look about unfortunately the price wasn't great normally paying £6 a pint

Lovely city to stroll around and lovely people, but not a good lads weekend city. I went on a 3 night blokes holiday about 8 years ago and it was £8-£10 a pint.

As above poster - Berlin all the way.

Sweden is a dull, dull country full of dull people whose only release from their terminal dullness was to drink a lot, that
is until their government swiftly sealed up that avenue of joviality by upping the price of alcohol to an alarming degree.
This is what will happen in Scotland if the SNP achieve independence.

Go to Germany, they know how to have fun [ and start global conflicts ].

Yeah been to Stockholm, it's a lovely city but you'd do it all in a couple of days for the same price as one day in Berlin and not have had a good night out.

Beautiful city, but one for the wife / girlfriend, not a boys weekend. Way too expensive.

If you do end up going there, don't take a penny in cash with you. Everything's electronic, and they'll look at you like you're a mad foreigner if you try to pay in cash.

As many have already said, Stockholm is a nice city to visit but for a party/drinking weekend it will be not as good compared to other European cities and pretty expensive as well. But there is quite a few places to visit, plenty of nice restaurants and bars and depending on if you like sports or not there is quite good hockey teams in Stockholm (one in the Premier League/ SHL and one team in the top of Championship). Depending on when you would like to go there is also three Stockholm teams in the Premier Leaue in football and the prices for those games can vary but if I remember right the cheap tickets goes between £20-30.

how much is beer and food there now? i went in 1992 the place was very expensive then compared to the uk whatever you do don't go too Iceland btw 10 quid a pint

Iceland and Switzerland were both £12 a pint when I went there, this was last year.

You need a mortgage for a night out in those countries.

I’m in Gothenburg at the minute. Beer is around £7.50. I’m mainly drinking local craft stuff, but the regular lagers aren’t much cheaper.

I’ve been here since Friday, and not only have i not used cash; I haven’t actually seen any!

We had a great time in Gothenburg too. OP, the Abba museum is in Stockholm but isn't very laddish.

Will do some research on Berlin tonight.

Any thoughts on where to stay and where to go?

I spent two weeks in and around Stockholm visiting friends, it's not a good place for a lads weekend. I would highly recommend Prague, though
