Virgin Media Discussion Thread

Just signed up for Virgin Media Business. I get 350Mbps down and 20Mbps up. A static IP address. Unlimited landline calls and a mobile phone SIM with unlimited minutes and texts and 32GB of data. I'm pretty happy with that.

Has it been installed yet? Would really appreciate you doing some tests of the throughput as I'm giving consideration to going back to Static from Dynamic

No. It won't be installed for a couple of weeks. I'll post here when it is installed though. Just waiting for an install manager to give me a date and time.

So I was having a look on the VM website for the cost of BB popped in my postcode to check whats available as my BT is getting lower and lower sync rate recently

Anyway got knock on door yesterday from VM local rep ..hmm I thought

He asked what I had at moment which is BT phone/BB and sky Q with 2 mini boxes movies no sport

He offered

350mb BB ,phone , 3 x Tivo boxes with movies + sport for £79 a month with a 12months contract .

Comments ?

That's a good deal IMO. I've got that rate but with two boxes when it was running as an offer in August I think.

I moved over from sky (not q) and have been happy with the switch.

Anyone having issues on VM recently? About a week now the net has been almost nonfunctioning. Seems there is an issue with the upload side of things, Speed tests are giving the usual 300MB DL but as soon as it tries to test upload the entire net explodes, anything that requires the use of upload complete freezes the net and sometimes brings it down. Had a phonecall with them and was told by the robot they're 'suffering issues in the area, engineers blah blah' but nothings changing. Had about an hour today of usable internet.

Had similar for about 3 weeks over Xmas and was told the same as you (posted a few pages back) .. received a text 2 days later saying all is fixed and working ok again ... was'nt sorted for another few days.

been running fine this past week but since last night problem has started again.

Currently averaging 7 Mbps upload, and ping is mid 60's

You want to check your modems power levels, go to http://192.168.0.1, if your in modem mode go to 192.168.100.1

You don't need to log in, click on check router status.

You want to check downstream and upstream tabs

Your downstream power levels should ideally be between -6 to +10 dBmv

Your upstream power levels 31 dBmv to 55 dBmv

They're usually fairly bad with stability but a modem reset every few days keeps it in check. What are they playing at?

Power levels look ok I think, try checking virgin media service status to see if you have a fault in your area.

Also posting on the virgin media support forums with your issue, and someone should get back to you, although response times can be hit and miss.

Ringing the service the bot is still saying 'there seems to be a fault in your area, engineers are working hard to fix it, however it is a very complex issue' or something along those lines, but the link you sent says 'Broadband No known issues'.

This is gonna go on forever.

tbf my connection is usually stable and consistant speeds no matter on time of day ... my complaint with VM is when things go wrong it takes them forever to fix them while denying there is an issue somewhere.
