Gaming Laptops £1500-£2000

true, If you can push the RTX 2070 then great ! lasts a bit longer and MORE power. if screen is 1080p then strong CPU will help it

See I know nothing about laptop cpus so don't know what to be looking out for. I will be going for a 1080p screen hopefully a 144hz. Finding no reviews on YouTube at the moment the RDA is supposed to be lifted today.

I'm wanting to see benchmarks. I have then got an idea if it's better to go with a 10 series laptop as I'm guessing prices will go down all depends on the difference in performance to price etc

though is funny seeing aero having a stronger CPU (both 6 cores)

i7 8750h vs i9 8950hk

8950hk matches desktop 8600k quite nicely with gtx 1080 used as a GPU

8th Generation Intel® Core™ i9-8950HK (2.9~4.8Ghz)
8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8750H (2.2GHz-4.1GHz)

Or is it better to wait a few months and see if anything in the pipeline happens so to speak. If I'm buying one I don't want to get one today knowing there is better hardware round the corner

hopefully Gigabyte reps can fill in the details, with terms of CPU and GPU power- nothing new should come into play Q1/2

dont think AMD will get Zen 2 7nm cores into laptops till end of Q3/ Q4 maybe

And in a laptop would they be just as fine. I have found the options above on another website where your able to build your own custom laptop to your specification.

ah, i know the one. looks like desktop CPU as well. bear in mind CPU cooler wont be able to handle that chip at full whack, and go 9600k over 8600k for slightly better thermals

have to check if its Clevo or another OEM to check chassis

I will get in touch to find out the chassis. So with that CPU in even with better thermal paste and pads would it still run too hot. To counter this would I have to undervolt it?

they should prob give a good explanation on how it performs , i believe they have option for better paste on their website too

if they want the sale, make them work for it and give good information

As I have stated before I'm not very tech wise especially with laptops what questions do you think I should be asking any help is very much appreciated

Just off to phone with them here's the information I was given.

It's a Clevo chassis model number P751TM-G

The CPU is overclockable but not recommended and he stated it should have no problem hitting full whack with 100% cpu utilisation temps should be around high 60s to mid 70s aslong it is used on a flat surface and no vents getting blocked.

The thermal paste which you can upgrade in the options is good for a 3-4 degree difference in temps.

Also stated that the boost clocks on the RTX 2070 would be similar of that of a Founders desktop edition.

Will dig a bit later this evening for you . I know Asus and gigabyte laptops more

Thanks I'm trying to find information on the chassis myself. I do like the idea of these laptops though as customisation down the line sounds a good idea as the cpu chips are drop in.

Found this Orbital if you don't mind watching and letting me know what you think it's about the chassis (earlier model 50 instead of 51) and internals should give a better idea on how it should run with the above components in I stated. I've watched it myself but some of it goes over my head and kindly would like the advice of someone more knowledgeable than myself.

Also has none else had experience with these Clevo chassis. After some reading they do sounds as though to get them running right involves a lot of tweaking.

Thinking the best bet is to build one but with laptop specific parts eg the i7 8750H and a Rtx 2070 MaxQ
