Gtx strix 1080ti 11GB new gen RTX equivalent?

Why spend money on a sidegrade? Buying a 2080 to replace a 1080TI is the most daft 'upgrade' I've ever seen. Yes you might maybe get 10% higher fps for £100-£200 but they're essentially very similar in performance.
Get a 20180TI or don't bother unless mentally ill.

This thread has got me thinking too.

Just like the OP, I have the 1080TI and have had it since just after launch. I paid just over £600 back then and have enjoyed it's performance for 1 & a half years.

Selling it and getting the 2080 would only offer approx an extra 5% - 10% performance but with almost zero profit/loss that is still a small bump in performance for nothing. Then there is the enjoyment of having a new toy and messing about with the RTX features even if they aren't that utilised. Hmmm, this is definitely food for thought.

I have RTX 2080 NV-Link SLi and GTX 1080Ti SLi, and the 2080 is absolutely not worth it over the 1080Ti. There's a about a 8% performance difference between my two setups - > (looking at GPU scores) https://www.3dmark.com/compare/spy/6059294/spy/5117397
The only real upgrade from the 1080Ti is to the 2080Ti.

Blind test BF5, RT off- 1080ti V 2080 I doubt anyone could ,with conviction tell the difference.

I've been playing with MSI afterburner. What do you make of this...

Overclocked in uniengine test, I see an FPS improvement but on Farcry 5 benchmark, same overclocked settings, I see an FPS degradation from stock. Is that normal?

As for RT off, I don't feel any different playing on the GTX vs the RTX. Only with RT on, and when you know what to look after you can tell the difference visually. And even then it doesn't make the experience more immersive....yet.

All these arguments are beside the point.

I have had my 1080ti since July 2017.
It has 6 months warranty left and has been used almost every day for 3-4 hours for the last 18 months.
It won't last forever, it wasn't a 'top' brand (KFA2) and it was never the quietest of cards.

If I can swap this for a brand new card, even with only the same performance, with 2-5 years warranty, a good brand like MSI or EVGA and it will cost absolutely nothing, why wouldn't I do it?

It won't cost you nothing though.
