Hi all,

i recently wanted to get back into gaming so brought a Hp Omen i7 8750 GTX1060 laptop so i could sit n game on the sofa, it was a great laptop once i got the temps down by undervolting it, the problem was i just couldn't get over the noise the fans still made so i sent it back for a full refund.

So now id like to see what i can get for the money as a pc build, ive got a max of £1250 to spend ill need a monitor and pc, ive got my old mouse an mx518 and a keyboard from years ago im happy with.

it will be used for nothing more than a games machine, the monitor doesn't need to be any bigger than 24" wouldn't even mind going a bit smaller if it meant a better spec build. Id like to max out settings in games like BfV, Farcry5 etc, i love FPS games.

Thanks in advance, look forward to seeing your specs.

Ill need to get a copy of windows Which im told isnt too expensive to get hold of, happy to build it too myself :D

Well, I couldn't quite fit an Intel i5-9600K and decent Z390 board for overclocking without compromises (e.g. I do like that Samsung SSD at that price). The Ryzens don't overclock as much typically and this one comes with higher clock speed out of the box:

You don't need the aftermarket cooler as it comes with an ok one. But it'll help with any overclocking (if possible) and quietness. And you should have free shipping going by your post count.

Monitor fits the bill for FPS gaming. 1080p, fast refresh rate, TN, Freesync/Gsync compatible.

Intel for comparison (this will net you maximum fps at 1080p if you're willing to pay the extra or change some things around to fit budget) and is fine if you're not going to stream (Ryzen better at that pricepoint) and just pure gaming:

It’s a little over budget and doesn’t include a monitor but for 1080p high refresh gaming Intel’s a better option as games are more CPU limited at 1080p. The bundle is a great deal, savings could be had on the other components but at 1080p the RX580 is a more than competent card.

freesync monitor that support nvidia .

rtx 2060 which would beat vega 56 at 1080p gaming

intel is also stronger at 1080p gaming then ryzen hands down

also with better gigabyte UK rma/support.

vega 56 does push 550w to the limit so you'll have to undervolt it , IMO

Can i ask, do the intel boards have wifi?

good looking setups, im trying to mix n match at the moment and cant make my mind up.

Thanks mate, appreciate that. I'm thinking of saving for a couple of months and getting a bigger budget to play with, I'll probably wait until I have £1500-1600 saved

normally its hit or miss with hardware waiting, but come June you'll have ryzen 3*** rolling out. will be on show at computex, Vega vii is out Thursday and other nvidia offerings . 2019 roadmap looks damn good this year , finally!

pushing £1600 would allow you to beef up the GPU but more importantly , the screen to do it justice 1440p 144hz !

The more and more I read into it and looked up the parts you guys had suggested it makes sense to wait that little bit longer and saves bit more, get ready for a new list for me in a couple of months :D:)

only thing that will make parts rocket is... Brexit - all hardware transactions is in Dollars..... think palit only company to do sterling ... so, unless i crashes you should be okay :D
