Well, a lot of people will back him against the annoying SJWs. Maybe he knows that.
Also it's quite funny to offend them. Maybe he's a secret troll![]()
I'm with you on this. I think a lot of people in this thread dismissing this out of hand are showing that they can't actually apply critical thinking and just dismiss anything race related as 'SJW nonsense'. I hate actual SJW nonsense, but conflating that with some shock about Liam Neeson saying he spent a week wandering the streets with a weapon wanting to murder a random black person is moronic.I dunno, in this case it isn't just going to be SJWs that think it is more than a bit off. Granted it was a long time ago but still, WTF did he hope to achieve by mentioning it now. "I used to be a bit racist and wanted to kill a random black person but now I know that is wrong". We'd prefer it perhaps if he'd not wanted to kill a random black person in the first place. I doubt many black people reading about this story are going to get anything positive out of it, he's probably upset a fair few of his black fans.
Granted Mark Wahlberg actually did go out and physically attack both black kids and some asians too, though surprisingly it hasn't seemed to have affected his career - then again it isn't something he likes to talk about, aside from when he wanted a pardon so finally apologised to one of his victims.
Neeson on the other hand didn't actually attack anyone but was hoping to and he decided it was a good idea to tell everyone about it now? Right when he's promoting a movie? Bet the producers wish they had a clawback clause like some bankers have with bonuses these days for cases where the star says of does something really dumb that gets negative press attention and costs the film millions in lost revenue.

I'm not saying Liam Neeson is currently a racist person, but it seems clear that his mind at the time (whenever it was) had no problem incriminating all black people in his head for the crime of one of them, to the point he literally wanted to murder one. That is ******* chilling, and certainly racist. That's what I'm saying.I think it's worth pointing out again that Liam Neeson is not, repeat not speaking in favour of it. He is, in fact, speaking very clearly against it.
That's a crucial distinction for anyone who wants to "actually apply critical thinking".
A lesser, but still important, distinction is that he wasn't "wandering the streets with a weapon wanting to murder a random black person". If he had been, he would have at least attacked someone. He didn't. Or are you seriously suggesting that he was completely unable to find any "black" person anywhere?
Applying critical thinking is a good idea when it's applied to all the relevant facts. When it's applied to some facts and some fiction and crucial facts are deliberately left out, it's just a facade for rationalising preconceived ideas and that's not critical thinking.

If you think your statement in quote above still stands then that's some genuine mental gymnastics. Again another term thrown around too much, but that is literally what he said.
What fiction do you think I'm basing my thinking on?
Probably but I’m sure his $85m will cushion the blow a bit....He could have just blown his career with these comments.
well done for just highlighting the black aspect. i bet if the story had been a white rapist and him hanging around trying to find a white scumbag to kill, this wouldn't have been an issue. This is a bit more than offensive language - he was actively walking around with a weapon hoping he could kill a black person, that is pretty messed up.
I want to know why he's allowed can say 'black *******' and I'm not.
What if it's ginger on ginger?well done for just highlighting the black aspect. i bet if the story had been a white rapist and him hanging around trying to find a white scumbag to kill, this wouldn't have been an issue.
