FGM 'increasingly performed on UK babies' (shocker)

Nothing annoys me more than weak people who tip-toe around awful problems in order not to offend the followers of that certain wonderful religion. Being hesitant when it comes to such a vile issue should be an immediate sacking.

FGM is an abhorrent practice that needs to be completely stamped out, and those to subject women to it should be prosecuted.

Also, which religion are you referring to? I mean you're clearly intelligent and knowledgeable to know it's not just one particular religion involved in this, with the practice covering a number religions and similar cultures.

There was a conviction for this reported on last week

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-47094707

A woman who mutilated her three-year-old daughter has become the first person in the UK to be found guilty of female genital mutilation (FGM).

The 37-year-old mother from east London wept in the dock as she was convicted after a trial at the Old Bailey.

Spells and curses intended to deter police and social workers from investigating were found at the Ugandan woman's home, the trial heard.

Seems like exactly the kind of people and beliefs the left want to bring into our society with open arms, I can't wait.

In before Stockhausen, striderx etc call us racist in 3...2...1...

Seen this last week, she should be charged with child abuse also.

There should be equal outrage over Male genital mutilation (MGM) .......

Agreed. But I campaign against that, too. There's a growing number of us who do. Circumcision rates went off a cliff in the UK once doctors no longer got paid extra to perform them. But it's still big money in the USA.

Quite shocking that there has only been one(?) conviction so far for this yet and estimated 100,000 cases or something?

A lot of the mutilated girls have had it done to them before they arrived in the UK. For example, immigrating Sudanese families. But yes, there is still a shockingly low rate of prosecution, let alone conviction.

I think I know more about it than you tbh.
I'm sorry but what? They are not in anyway comparable, I guess the doctors treating phimosis or balanitis on the NHS better get some of that Ugandan woman's curses and spells ready so they dont get prosecuted then! Only a fool would suggest the mutilation of a Vagina for no good reason is the same as circumcision.

I would agree with many people in this thread. But then I would expect the police to knock on my door to "check on my thinking".

Female genital mutilation is abhorrent

A bit confused about which religion the OP thinks carries out FGM though?

Someone takes a knife to your genitals when you're a kid for no reason other than they feel like it, then you have to live with the person who authorised it until you're old enough to make your own way. Depending on a dice roll you may never have a relationship or even sex your whole life, so you may not have children, you may experience pain or discomfort. It's life changing, and for what...
It's typical of our times that genital mutilation on women gets loads of media attention, but anyone saying the same for genital mutilation on men gets laughed at. Some people even go as far as claming that circumcision has benefits! They need locking up.

Nobody in this thread is claiming circumcision at birth for no reason is a good thing, however it's an actual medical practise used to treat a number of conditions (as I have listed). Both done at birth for no reason are unacceptable, but I dont see the NHS offering vaginal mutilation on their website for medical conditions.

I don't think he's complaining about the instances where it is done out of medical necessity though. It is generally done for religious reasons or reasons derived from religion - such as being popular in the US to discourage masturbation... which is supposed to be bad because religion.

FGM has similar goals to male circumcision in the US in that it is supposed to inhibit sexual behaviour in young women.

I was going to have a go at you telling our Paediatrician you know more than him HOWEVER are you saying that you have suffered tremendously from a circumcision or a 'friend' has?
I'm sure there are young men who have been ruined.

Yea it's screwed my life up, and we're talking standard circumcision here, not a botched job lol. Some guys have it MUCH worse than me.

Joking: The upside is I have more free time to work and earn money, and I keep more of my earnings for myself. Might explain why Jews are so good at making money. (neither myself or my family are Jewish)

I understand that, however one has a valid medical reason to exsist, the other is just butchery.

How has it screwed up your life (and apparently getting a partner) out of interest?

One conviction. I saw on a twitter thread from police a while ago saying it is illegal etc and one of the respondents showed the NHS reporting and it numbered more than 10,000 per year (with one year in the 9,000's). It is estimated to be far far higher than that.

A lot like the rape gang numbers where they think locking up a few hundred men when up to 100,000 girls have been victims of this since at least the 70's. Racism....

That is true - but due to the "oh circumcision is fine, loads of men have it" culture, it was often selected without even considering other medical options. It being done for medical grounds, and it being the best treatment for the patient, are not the same thing.

Reduced sensitivity. It's one of the things used to promote circumcision, "lasting longer is good for her" sorta thing. That's a lie though, if she's done and you're not the whole experience is ruined. It leads to them doubting if there's something wrong with them, and you can tell them there isn't but it makes no difference.

I don't want to make it all about me though lol, and I didn't really want to get into personal stuff, but whenever I see people saying FGM is terrible I feel the need to make the point that circumcision is also terrible, because most people aren't aware, and mainstream media isn't going to say it.

I asked because I was circumcised for medical reasons aged 6, and as an adult over the years I feel I've done alright in the bedroom department! I haven't noticed any issues with sensitivity.
