Hi all,

So due more to the fact that I would like a card with design that matches a new Black / Red themed Ryzen build I have done, I am looking at what might be a potential upgrade from my 980ti SC+

I have been looking at RX590's, VEGA 56's and 1070ti's........it just seems a bit of a minefield as to what actual gains I am likely to see

I know that the 980 is an absolute gem of a card and it struggles with frankly nothing still, but if I was to go for it what are peoples recommendation as a worthwhile step up?

Currently running 1080p resolution but looking at 1440p in future

Thanks for any help you can provide

Ta

Ben

For a small bump, 2060, and a decent one, 2070

I think the Vega stuff won't offer much of an improvement for the price you pay. £330 for a reference 2060 I believe?

I'm not sure they are even worth upgrading to TBH I remember my overclocked 980ti was on pair with 1070.

Thanks both,

I had forgotten about the 2060, that was on the list too

This is why I thought I would ask, if its not worth it then will just plough on and maybe look to see if anyone on the MM has a red Kraken G10 plate that I could W/C the 980ti with

imho the only potential upgrade that makes sense atm is a 1080ti, if IF you can get it 2nd from a reliable source for a sensible price.

Otherwise you are trapped in the awful price envelope for the extra performance, a 2080ti would be a good choice if it were like half the price but it ain't so its for specialist cases or those with high disposable income.

Yeah the 1080ti would be an absolute winner, totally agree but I just don't have the £500 required :(. Been very lucky in that my new Ryzen build has cost me £200 for everything minus a new card so to fork out that much on a GPU is a bit crazy (defo don't have that sort of disposable income for that let alone a 2080ti lol)

I guess its going to be a "if its not broke, don't fix it" situation.

I was toying with going VEGA 56 as I’ve just bought a freesync monitor. And the 9xx series aren’t pascal.

You could sell your 980ti and the games, and you get a 15% performance hit (25/30% Oc) for £75.
