Commonly referred to as the 'Supercars Championship' or 'V8 Supercars' this thrilling series runs from March to November throughout Australia with a trip to New Zealand for some light international flavour.
The vehicles used in the series are loosely based on road going four door saloons. Initially the series was only for Ford Falcons and Holden Commodore's but new regulations introduced in the 2013 season opened it up to more manufacturers. This year in addition to Ford's and Holden's there are some Nissan Altima's racing as well.
Until now anyway. New for this year the Ford Falcon has been replaced with a new Ford Mustang!
(yeah ok it's a bit warped out of shape but it's a Mustang - shuddup! )The cars are front engine, rear wheel drive with an output of 620-650bhp currently using a 5.0 litre V8 although new regulations have also opened up the engine options although no teams have committed to this yet.

The reward for putting on a fantastic night race is to be struck from the calendar 
- The Perth race is now a night race and the track has been resurfaced! No more crappy tyre wear!
- The grid size is down to 24 now due to 2 REC's being returned. Likely to back out to tender for the 2020 season.
- Triple Eight Racing are only fielding 2 cars (SVG/Whincup) after Craig Lowndes retirement.
- 23Red Racing formed a partnership with Tickford
- Sandown is now in November and the final Enduro switching places with Auckland
- Philip Island is now a SuperSpring again
Also some driver changes for this year:
- Michael Caruso has left Kelly Racing. Joined Tickford as an endurance driver.
- Tim Blanchard has retired from full time racing and his seat has been filled by Macauley Jones from Super2
- Mark Winterbottom has gone from Tickford to Charlie Schwerkolt Racing (Team 18) filling Lee Holdsworth's seat.
- Holdsworth has taken Winterbottom's seat at Tickford
- Richie Stanaway is out at Tickford and now at Garry Rogers Motorsport replacing Garth Tander who stepped down from full time racing and now with T888 as an endurance driver

How to watch:
Internationally the series can be live streamed and races played on demand via Supercars Superview which goes for a fairly reasonable $60 AUD for the season.
Can't see any TV channels for this sadly, looks like motorsport.tv is gone!
