Hi

I've decided to sell my gaming laptop and get a gaming rig that I plan on using just on my 65" 4K Samsung tv.
I'll be getting a corsair k63 wireless keyboard and mouse with the lap board.

My main concern is....can pc gaming be done purely from a tv these days!???

The specs on the pc should be decent (2080,16gb ram,I7-8700 cpu etc) but with 3 kids I simply don't have the space to wet up a monitor/desk etc etc in my living room without the missus going ballistic!!

So my plan is to hook up the new rig via HDMI I presume and it will be just on the big TV when I want to game.
I'll play mainly the big shooters like BF5,Athem etc but not a hardcore player who demands to be winning non stop.

Worried I'll order this almost 2k rig and regret it's only on tv

not at all, got a gaming rig in our living room and whilst it mainly gets used for plex and netflix you cant beat big screen gaming when you get the chance. especially on a modern 4k set.

one thing i will say i've yet to find a keyboard mouse combo i'm happy using on the couch.

@OneZeoN

pushing budget to max, rtx 2080ti which is the first TRUE 4K GPU- so just whack everything to High settings , or gaming with ray tracing at 1440p :)

Thetis case, this is a ATX Board/Case but the size of the case is smaller then most mATX cases!!! due to PSU being on the side

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,993.88 (includes shipping: £0.00)

corsair and igabyte for uk RMA and report support, Gaming is also damn good value for what you get with z390 boards

going ITX and wifi for very small and stylish set up

2700x + 2080ti

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,932.84 (includes shipping: £0.00)

at 4k, ryzen 2700x will only just be a little behind the 9700k - both at stock speeds

Yeah looked around as ill use my xbox pad for casual games but the k63 with lapboard seems to be the best option for K&M on the sofa.

should just scrape 2080ti 9700k with them for £2100 . they use Gigabyte as board vendors and corsair for rest of parts and nvidia for GPU

worth seeing if your samsung TV has freesync on it :)

would allow Vega 7 to pair nicely , though not as powerful at 2080ti, keeps costs down with sync tech

I’m in a very similar situation, but will mainly use for VR and some 4K simulation and then have my Xbox one X for casual gaming. This is an expensive hobby!

I was looking at a PC Specialist set up, could not buy the parts individually cheaper, but the storage options on it are not great for flight sim type games.

I’ve purchased all but the CPU / GPU so far thanks to the great guidance on here.

As you have an emphasis on 4K gaming, there is only one GPU for you and you will already know which one lol I think I might get away with its “cheaper” brother.

I was thinking I'd lower the resolution down on the TV as 4k hits the framerate so much while gaming.
Is the only option 1080p or 4k on tvs?
Was thinking about getting the 2070 as so much cheaper than the 2080

Just checking...

I can play my pc/games etc on my 4k telly...in 1080p??
I'd rather have better FPS than a higher resolution if possible

Yeah, visual quality might not be as good , ao cially on a large TV, but all depends on how far away you sit from it and the screen size.

Not a lot of people realise buying 4k tVs, if it's under 65" and you sit over 2m away it's like looking at .1080p TV..... PPI are to high and not larger enough

Heard you can do 1440p on the TV to so I'd do that tbh.

I'm also sat a good 10/12 ft away
