Hi, just looking for a spot of advice any anyone knows.

I did a few extra shifts in A&E in the East of England, I was a few months late getting the timesheets in as I had some personal life problems.

Now they have refused to pay me for 565h. Its actually a lot of money and I'm really unhappy. I will get proper legal advice next week but was wondering if anyone knows the law on this?

Actually Its about 2 months but I must have treated 1000 people in that time, im fuming that they think they can get away without paying me.

A few extra hours isn't 565. How many months late were you and when do they need the information by? As above speak to the BMA.

I'm pretty sure it'd be illegal not to pay you. The BMA or HCSA should sort it out pretty easily. A formal complaint to payroll manager would help too.

You'll definitely get your money. It's illegal to refuse to pay you what they know is due (they should have records too), just because your timesheets were late.

If you've been dealing with a payroll lackey then speak to a manager and tell them you'll be informing your union.

If anyone asks you why your timesheets were so late decline to answer as it's irrelevant and none of their business. I guess keep it cordial if you want their business in future?

I love Dr house and his 'how do I life' threads.

Such classics as;

I've eaten a diamond.

I need a couple of goats.

What to do with life now?

How you are in the fortunate position you're in I'll never work out!

Are they saying they wont ever pay you or that it takes x weeks after the submission of your payslips?

At a guess they can only pay for timesheets submitted within y weeks and you will need to escalate it to find the exception procedure.

That's an utter joke but hardly a surprising reply from the morons that usually staff hospital payroll and staffing. I'd be writing to head off payroll, clinical lead for A&E, medical director for the trust. Its not unheard off payroll departments (or in my experience usually medical staffing / rota coordinators) to be clueless and as obstructive as possible. Speak to the BMA and it should be resolved fairly promptly.

Well I think you have both screwed up.
Claiming a few months late isn't really good on your behalf and their answer seemed a bit heavy handed too.

You are one hell of a strange guy. Please don't move to work in the Swedish health service in the Norrbotten region.

Assuming Norrbotten Sweden was at the top of House's 'places I must work' list, I hear they're mainly after nurses for the criminally insane.

Reading the things that Dr House has posted, he could be an advanced-level troll such as Diamond Mark. Though I think he's genuine.

I spent a couple of months doing locum work until my next job started in another hospital. It’s my own fault they where late but at the same time I checked with HR several times if it was going to be a issue handing them in late and they said it would be fine. HR are not blocking my payment is the finance director.

I have been on to the BMA. They are going to get back to me. I’m just so angry at the whole situation as I always helped the trust when they needed me. I have tired complaining but they have all closed ranks and no one is interested. At the end of the day they want me to have worked for free.

.

The are saying they will never pay me. I submitted about 5 months late but I have been chasing them for 10 months now and finally snapped yesterday after a heard shift at Work

Completely illegal and I have no doubt you would win if you took them to court (I am not a lawyer). But obviously that would sour your relationship with them. Keep escalating upwards and if necessary get a solicitor to write a letter.
