I've been through a few times but never on a tight connection so never watched time or hurried

If flying in from London into T1 and then getting a connection from T2 in 2 hours work?

The bad news is it is totally separate airlines so I will have clear immigration collect bag and re check in

The upside is I will be arriving business class so should be first off and bags, in theory, will be quick

If I can't make this connection it looks like a night in HK which with hotel, transport costs and a few beers would be pretty expensive

Even though it is separate airlines, is it also separate ticketing?
No chance you can book your bags through?
As getting to a 'domestic' in time to rechecking will certainly be tough, any delay in the air at all and I doubt you'd manage it.

My memory of HK main terminal is that it is utterly massive, we'd a flight out from a satellite terminal of T1, and that was a buss ride to a shadow building, let alone a plod over to T2.

-edit it seems T2 is simply a check in desk, and once you process there you get on a walkway and end up inn T1 after you pass security and indeed the massive shopping centre which constitutes terminal 2.

Queues at what? Security?

Yes, when you got from terminal to terminal you have go through security again. I’ve been rushed through a few times by Cathay Pacific’s reps. You’ll be cutting it fine if you go by what I have experienced. Where are you flying onto?

Da Nang

Currently in HK having arrived from Heathrow on Cathay last week. Given this was during Chinese New Year the walk time to baggage was about 10-15 minutes, bags arrived in 10 minutes and immigration took no more than 10 minutes so quite reasonable.

But crucially did you go to T2 or just straight out into HK? The bags off the plane aren’t the problem...

Hopefully it’s improved since I was last there 18 months ago. I love Hong Kong such a great city with great people.
