Hi everyone,

I am looking for a nice and reliable PSU that I can use for the next couple of years taking into account a possible upgrade in the next couple of years.

I have been completely off and haven't got a clue of what's out there.

Can someone advise on a good PSU in the region of £100?

Thank you.

Thanks for your quick reply. After looking at the overclockers website the RM750x caught my attention and also the FOCUS 750

What do you think?

Rainforest user reviews don't looks great for the RM750x.

You can't really go wrong with a seasonic. My EVGA 850GS is a seasonic unit. I'd still be inclined to go with EVGA personally.

Hi,

Unless you are planning on running multiple GPU's and many hard drives etc you don't need more than 650W. Have a look here: https://seasonic.com/wattage-calculator

The Corsair has a great price and 10 year warranty but I haven't read any reviews. The Seasonic Focus and the Antec Earthwatts are good choices, the Antec is based on the Seasonic Focus platform and Antec warranty is also 7 years, like the Seasonic Focus.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £281.07 (includes shipping: £11.10)

Focus is 10 years too. Antec HCG Gold as well.

Riotoro Enigma G2 650 is same Focus platform but more Sata connectors and EPS connectors, and can be found cheaper. Also 10 years.

EVGA G2/G3 650 are good options too.

I am undecided between the Seasonic Focus 650W and the Corsair 750W. Both do have 10 years of warranty but the Corsair has got another 100W which under some load would be operating around 91% of efficiency. Vish do you have the link for the review that you read?

I have compared both of these PSU:

https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/seasonic-ssr-750fx-focus-plus-750-gold-psu,review-34066-11.html
https://www.tomshardware.co.uk/corsair-rm750x-v2-psu,review-34387-12.html

and

https://www.kitguru.net/components/...easonic-focus-plus-gold-fx-850w-psu-review/6/

Both do very well although the Corsair in terms of efficiency performs a bit better. The FOCUS performs better on the 12V rails with just 0.15% of deviation vs 0.6% from Corsair but the corsair performs better on the 3.3V rail with 0.75% deviation vs 1.12% from FOCUS.

It would be easier if one of then had less warranty time :D

Corsair has got an additional 100W which might not be of great use.

Really though decision.

from jonnyguru: http://www.jonnyguru.com/blog/2018/05/08/corsair-rm750x-2018-750w-power-supply/6/

seeing as the RMx 750w is on offer. no brainer really.
for an extra £14, compared to the antec earthwatts gold pro, get an extra 100w, full modularity and extra 3 years warranty...

That's exactly my though: for an extra £14 I can get an addition 3 years warranty. Pretty good I have to admit - not to speak about the extra 100W.

EDIT: Thanks for the johnny's link. Was looking for this!

if comparing seasonic focus + 650w and corsair rmx 750w at the same price...
why not get the higher wattage corsair rmx?
pretty much a no brainer lol

The Corsair unit is a lot quieter if that is important to you. The toms hardware review shows a much gentler fan curve on the Corsair psu and it shows in the dBA graph.

Do you guys know if the RM750x version is V2 (2018)? I think that's the one that jonny is testing right?
Thanks

Thanks. I think I am going to go to the Corsair power supply.

orbitalwalsh, is this really true? Do they simply replace by a new one? And what you mean with "Also rep on here."?

Thanks

It will mean that's what they are currently doing, so stating it is true.

This is different to a promise that in "x" years time, if you ever have need to RMA, that the same will be done. Without an official statement that contains "not subject to change", then present policy is subject to change.

It means then that if in 10 years time something happens to the PSU I will be able to contact them and get my PSU replaced?
