As usual with random brain waves, I'm contemplating building a desktop at some point, the reason been I was thinking of upgrading the laptop, but for the price of a laptop upgrade I could just get a really good desktop as the laptop will run at 1080P highest settings for some time when I'm out an about.

I run at 1440p with my 32" AOC monitor, I have keyboard, mouse, monitor, so I just need the actual tower, 4k usage is needed.

What can I get 1-1.3k?

just wait until you have to upgrade

I feel like my 1070 laptop is going to struggle severely for some games soon since I like to max out, at 4k I'm happy lowering slightly, usually the settings giving the biggest impact hardly make a difference when reduced but performance improved.

But I feel this is going to change.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £935.59 (includes shipping: £11.70)

you might want to reconsider your budget then, if you already have a laptop with a 1070.

the next step up is a 2070 (which is a rather pointless upgrade IMHO - others may differ)
so that leaves a 2080 that costs £650-700 depending on brand
or the 2080ti, which is the first true 4k (ie 4k60fps @ max settings) card, costing ~£1100

That case really isn't fit for higher end PC and is pretty much disposable design.
While case can be the longest time usable part of the PC. (mine running now toward 11 years)
This is how badly drive cages you can't remove restrict its intake airflow:

Also that PSU is Corsair tax overpriced for its outdated medieval efficiency and cheap capacitors.
Here's modern efficiency PSU with quality capacitors for £1 less:

Then next step up with semi-modular cabling and +2 years to warranty is only few bucks more.
