Can anyone advise a good way to try and block porn on an iPhone and MacBook?

A friend of mine wants to try and cut it out.

I’ve added the adult website filter in iOS for the iphone, but the first site I tested loaded

Any other things I can try on the phone?

For the mac what would be the best way? Has to be done on the admin account.

Maybe some kind of host file editing or browser plugin? If so, anyone know a decent guide?

:)

Do what 'The Geezer' said and also block the websites on the router and don't give him the router password?

"Your friend" has bigger issues if he/she/you need to resort to this sort of thing. Want to cut it down? Go for a walk or read a book :p

At work, we use Sophos anti-virus and that blocks various types of web sites including porn and also gambling-related and alcohol-related. You could set up Sophos to block porn but allow the other categories.

It’s not that simple, porn can be as addictive than alcohol or cigarettes for example.

You wouldn’t say to someone who has a dependency on alcohol to go for a walk to surpress it.

Every UK 'large' based ISP has to have a way to block 'Adult Adventure' sites from being accessed. Sky call it the Broadband Shield, TT 'homesafe security'

This will only block it on the device running the application, and its not hard to get around sophos if you wanted to.
If your really mental about blocking a bit of grot then do it at the source, ISP controls, router blocklists, pihole would be useful as it can block at the dns level, run a proxy (again something a pi can do) and block there - then on the devices themselves, applications like sophos ect..
However this only stops them withing your domain, your network and your devices you have control over.

lol, it's not me, honest! ;)

It's my friend with the psycho email snooping ex who is supposed to be collecting her stuff tomorrow. Should be fun considering the emotional rollercoaster phone calls he received all weekend from her.

I told him is was pretty much futile to try and block stuff like that on his phone and laptop. I think he's trying to ensure he still has the 'motivation' to go out and meet someone new :D

I just found this host repo with 50k porn sites on it. I might pop that on his laptop and see how it goes. It seems to have the site that slipped though on the Apple Content Filter that I tested, so it's a good start :p

Your mate needs proper help, like a shrink or something.
After a breakup and wanting to ban himself from grot sites? wow... never heard that one before.
Give him a slap and tell him that 7 days = 7 socks stuck to the bedroom wall and not to be such a wuss.
