I get your point but exercise IS a pretty good idea. Speaking as someone who's had run ins with alcohol dependency.

The guy is looking for a technological solution to a psychological problem...

On a serious note, it might be a good idea to let your friend know to maybe just put devices away during those difficult but fun times. If he/she sets up blocks they may just turn these these off.

If this is severe, I'd seek professional help. (Doctors, I mean). It may be a bigger health issue.
