Air cooling for I7 9700

hi all

would a CPU Cooler sycthe mugen 5 rev b

be alright to air cool a I7 9700 if i dabble a bit with overclocking

any suggestions appreciated

dont want to go full water but would be open to a AIO the kraken looks good
or which air cooler is best?

its a 120mm tower cooler, it will be upto the job of cooling an 9700k,

do you have the cooler or are you just looking?

if not. same sort of cost

As said,Mugen is a good cooler. I prefer big coolers using 140mm fans because bigger fan move more air at same noise levels meaning 140mm fanned coolers almost always cool better and run quieter than 120mm fanned coolers.

I don't like CLC and all but a couple AIOs are CLCs. Poor quality, no way to do any kind of maintance or repairs without replacing whole unit, usually cost more than a good air cooler, usually make more noise, don't last as long, and when something goes wrong it's almost always the pump and system has no cooling until new cooler is installed .. not low cost like a new fan on an air cooler that will work fine with any fan held on with rubberbands until new fan is in hand.

Alpenfohn Matterhorn for £26.99, normally £39.95 is a very good cooler.

A good air cooler in a good case with airflow setup so case is flowing air within a few degrees of room is the best and lowest priced way to go.
