Man opens fire on Dutch tram, several hurt

The religion itself has bad/evil teachings within it which people take as god's word if they are a follower. So they are following their religion.

There are 2 sides believers and non believers. It's a believers job to convert a non believer by force if necessary.

On the day of judgement the believers will all rise up and inherit the earth.

It's a pity most on here don't have a clue of the teachings as what started out good. As their prophet gained more power and became more corrupt this teachings were then swayed to benefit him and his desires. This is why a religion which started out as a religion of peace as the book grew it turned more sinister and corrupt as he gained more power. It was written over a number of decades not just a year or two.

Marrying 6 year olds. Marrying his son's wife (after he saw her naked, again most likely under force). Marrying a woman (under force) who's husband and father he had just killed. These are all facts. If the book states contradictory information then the part written later (when he was more corrupt and sinister) takes presidence as he was "closer to god" as he had spent more time with him.

Again this is just a small number of things they say is okay to do. Jihad is their obligation and you can't fight a religion with ideologies like this.
My issue is saying what you have said here is hate speech/racist/bigotry in a lot of people's eyes, you would be demonized and have your life ruined if a lot of leftists had their way.

Hopefully they will catch this murderous scum before he can destroy any more lives.

To late.

You should have posted BEFORE people in your thread had a go at you for not posting here ;)

The police are searching the mosques for it.

The posting in the other thread was the first I heard of this terror attack, but hey you believe what you want to, your opinion means nothing to me

If jihad is their obligation, as you claim then how come most of the 1.8 billions Muslims live peaceful lives?

They don't follow it as literally.

If you have a religious book saying it's okay to do this and that. Some will do it even though they know it's wrong under the name of religion. Especially a religion which forces you to pray 5 times a day in a specific direction, forces you to fast / starve yourself every year for a month, etc, etc. A religion with that many rules (halal meat, wearing of burka's) is pretty extreme so then you have more extremists who follow everything literally including all the bad stuff in it.

You then have these people come out and say there is nothing bad in the book they are mis translating it, etc which is a load of bull. They need to draw a line which a lot of their religious leaders will never do as then it would be going against their faith and the word of god. Basically they would need to denounce the fact their religion is the word of god (therefore not real).

So you have a majority which don't really follow it properly but still call themselves muslims. It's why they have so manys sects too. As branches of it have split off with different views as they cannot agree with everything written in it.

That's certainly one way to look at things, though I don't disagree entirely.

I do think that one thing often overlooked is that at this scale Islam-related terrorism is a relatively new issue (in the West), particularly when you consider how old the religion is.

Wars were waged yes but terrorism or the threat of terrorism wasn't really here say in the 60s when thousands of Muslims immigrated, coming from much more religious backgrounds...

I wonder if the motive for this is retaliatory, you would have to imagine so, pretty disturbing really, why are we having revenge attacks by people from countries that are thousands of miles away and who have never met? How does it end with the amount of stupid people in the world? Does someone now attack a Mosque in say, Canada, followed by an attack on a train in Paris?

The stupid thing is, the people this bloke shot will have been as sickened by the NZ attacks as he was.

Muslims and Christian's have been waging war against each other across Europe/Africa/ME for a thousand years or more though. This violence is nothing new.

Do they though? Christians across Africa and the ME would like to speak to you, as would women, children and the LGBT community, also Sunni/Shai conflicts.

Peaceful lives indeed.

I'm not a fan of any religion really, they all have conflicts (yes, even Buddhists).

I'm not saying Islam is great, in many countries it's very backwards, but weirdly it's not dissimilar to puritan Christianity.

Last time I checked you didn't seem to really care much about the LGBT community though.

To be fair education in that part of the world isn't exactly great. So the ones coming here had their eyes opened when they came here and loved the west and the spoils of it (money). Look at Iran before the revolution back to what is now a state run by savages. They are regressing due to the leaders there now wanting them to follow sharia law and follow islam as it was meant to be. You have the islamic police in saudi arabia where they send out vans to gather men and take them by force to mosques to pray. It's illegal to denounce and leave the religion and you are forced to adhere to it's rules.

You never had a lot of the above back then. What about the girls trying to flea who were captured by thai authorities and were going to be sent back? This is a backwards religion being taught in countries by backwards leaders and introducing backwards laws.

Education in these places is improving thanks to the internet. But state controlled education only teaches them what they want them to learn. Back in the 60's they were taught nothing, now they are being taught backwards ideologies and have been for the past 3-4 decades.

Couldn't agree more Jess :(

Yes, and war is different to acts of terrorism against civilians. Armies clashing isn't the same as a random person blowing themselves up or stabbing people.

Plenty of Muslim travelers went to non-muslim lands and lives without issue. Did they not understand Islam but the kids today do?

I don't have anything against LGBT, people should be absolutely free to do as they wish. As long as their life choices don't impeach on my freedoms then I have no issue, the same goes for religion or ideology of any kind.

My point is this conflict has gone on for generations, it's just evolved from meeting on the battlefield on horseback. One wants the other to adopt its belief system. Humanity and technology as a whole has advanced to the point where this type of conflict is not possible anymore.

I don't agree with this to be honest. Peace is a language these people no longer speak, you can not reason with someone who decides to randomly kill innocents. Take both the Nazis and the Islamic Fundamentalists, put them in a pit, let them "sort" themselves out and use the survivors for risky medical research. These people don't want to be in our society, why are they still here?
