Hi all,

I already have a main gaming rig for FPS and other titles, but where it is there isn't enough room for a proper chair/wheel setup. I have another room which is used for my homelab stuff and I am wanting to build a second system in there. It'll also double up as a workstation and ESXi host.

I'm looking for a Ryzen based system, mainly as my main rig is Intel and I fancy a change. I guess having an NVidia GPU in my main rig I might fancy an AMD GPU as well.

Spec wise it needs to be able to play Assetto Corsa and Project Cars 2 at 120 fps and for the start it'll be driving a 1440p panel.

Since it'll be dual booting I would want 8c/16t minimum and 32GB of RAM.

Finally, I'll be wanting a dual port Intel 10 Gbit SFP+ network adaptor to connect into my switch, so the motherboard and case should be able to accommodate the GPU as well as another card.

Any deals around that meets this? What sort of price would I be looking at? Thanks!

@ChrisD.

Depends on your budget ? You could push Thread Ripper with Aorus Xtreme - having one native 10Gbit port and two 1Gbit ports . Opens up for 12-24 cores if needs be.

If you've got the budget , the .Pushing for Vega 7, undervolting a little will give you max FPS and Freesync ultrawides are normally £200+ cheaper then Nvidia screens

Thanks. I'm pretty open budget wise, up to £2k I guess if need be but if I don't need to spend that to achieve a workstation/gaming hybrid I don't see the point. I already have a monitor, so no need for that currently. It's only 60 hz but I guess in the future I would be tempted to get an ultra wide 34" panel.

I'd prefer an expansion card for 10Gb as I don't have any spare copper ports on my switch, I only have SFP+ left and the copper tranceivers are silly money.

drives and cases are more of a personal choice and you'd know what you'd need for your storage .

went with flagship x470 to allow you to slot in Ryzen 3000 or 4000 12+ core chips in Q3 W** (after computex) in the future - though x570 boards are beastly! also why didn't select ryzen 2700x and went with standard 2700

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,660.49 (includes shipping: £12.60)

vega 7 with undervolt will provide max FPS when you upgrade screen although would be OTT for a 1080p 60hz and even 1440p 60hz panel!

or, drop to vega 64- undervolt again and can grab a 1440p ULTRAWIDE

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,993.18 (includes shipping: £15.30)

again no drives or network card as ocuk doesn't have them

could save some cash on going Carbon X470
