A colleague at work has got a new vehicle from a VW garage, i think it is lease/pcp as she is saying she hands it back next year.

Anyway, got it new in Aug 18 and in Jan 19, the bonnet and rear bumper has had orange spots appear.

She and her dad took it back to the dealer who stated it is acid rain and therefore not their responsibility.

They pushed a little harder and the dealership has offered to buff it for them (!) as this is what VW has advised them and they cannot help any further.

Her dad has taken it to a mates garage who has said not to buff it and he will sort if for £600.

Any of you more experienced lot able to offer any advice?

Acid rain. Lol. Acid rain doesn't cause rust spots on paintwork. That's just standard fallout.

Where does she stand though with who pays for this? It's on PCP, brand new VW Polo from a VW dealer who have effectively washed their hands of it.

There's nothing to pay for - it's standard on a white car!

Grab a bottle of ironx or similar fallout remover and that will remove the majority.

They don't wash out, it's in the paint. VW have offered to buff it out, but nothing else.

It's what fallout removers such as ironx and ferrous dueller were invented for. It's all part and parcel of owning white cars. She's responsible for keeping it clean.

looks like a good application for a paint protector ? if the vw std paint is not up to the job,
I can't see why other light cars would not be similarly impacted though.

last place I lived, you learned where you should/shouldn't park car to avoid contaminants - sap in particular, so, maybe female in question should do that ?
