Best RTX 2070 bang for buck?

Hi guys

So I've just upgraded to a Dell S2719DGF which is 1440p and G-Sync, currently sporting my Nvidia 970 and want to upgrade my GPU.

I was debating a 2060 but now pretty convinced to go for a 2070. Problem is I need to keep the missus happy on cost, whilst making me and my rig happy too. :D

Which 2070 would you folks recommend going best bang for buck? Considering overclocking, best temps/cooler, lower noise etc?

Thanks

Just had a thought, me and the missus are going on holiday to Florida at the end of April - am I being daft thinking would there be any issues buying a card over in the US to save a chunk of £ ?

Newegg have the EVGA 2070 for $499 which equates to ~£378 which is a huge £130 saving... I could just get it delivered to the hotel whilst I'm there.

Wonder if there would be any warranty issues, could I still deal with the manufacturer in the UK, with a card I bought in the US?

Don't believe there would be any import tax issues? As I would just bring it back in my suitcase with the rest of our gifts and souvenirs etc. :p

EDIT: Since found out the tax isn't included on Newegg to Florida! So that's no good.

You’d need to check with the card manufacturer to see if the warranty is global or region specific. EVGA customer services seems to be bang on from what I’ve read so you might be in luck.

@Thekwango a quick Google seems to answer my question on EVGA offer a global warranty! First result... https://www.evga.com/articles/00671/

Guess that answers that! Sounds like a good plan to me now, unless anyone says otherwise? :D

Although I'm still looking for card recommendations? I'll just have to check the global warranty situation though if there are better 2070 alternatives...

The EVGA Black seems to be a good value all round option.

The MSI gaming cards once overclocked will equal a stock 1080ti.

Well I've since found out the tax isn't applied to Florida checkout for Newegg - but rainforest US it does where I then realised.

Now it's only £20 odd cheaper, so I'm tempted for the sake of £20 to just get the OcUK one in the UK for obvious reasons... Hmm :p

If you are going to buy from the US then get an EVGA, I have an email from them stating its a global warranty. I am planning on buying a 2080ti from Vegas in august.
I would get a 2080 though for 1440p 144hz instead of a 2070, you can get a 2080 for $699 which is £530

@Apone70 can't find a 2080 for $699 with tax (most US sites add it on checkout)... Although have found it for $699 then with tax on checkout it's $745 which converts to ~£566. That equates to a £35 odd saving against the £599 one in the UK.

In comparison the EVGA 2070 XC Black Edition with tax is $543 converts to £412, which is a £40 saving on the this week only card on OcUK right now. Which means there is a £154 difference between the 2070 and 2080 for a 10-15% FPS increase over the 2070.

Seems the savings are quite small when you factor in the tax. Stupid US sites don't add it on the website as each state tax % varies, so they calculate it on checkout when you put the zip code in.

With such a small cost saving and potential warranty issues, I'm now debating just buying from the UK still. There goes my idea :(

Oh mannnnn, I was using the EVGA site. So its not really worth it if tax is added after. That's one thing I hate about the states when shopping. Just put the price with tax lol. Obviously different states have different sales tax so websites have no choice but shops could do it

Wait a month and visit a microcentre or similar while you are there? Deals could be had in store and you will know exactly what price you are getting. Plus it would be awesome to see what one of those places looks like in the flesh.

Any rtx card can go bang :p
The risk is here to stay, just like the GTX590 back in the days.

Highly doubt issue will be resolved this gen, but Nvidia will most likely not have the same issue carried over to their next cards with GDDR6 vram.

Just get the RTX 2000 with EVGA. It's a win if it doesn't kill itself during its product life-cycle, and if it does die after the card became EOL but still within warranty period, you would probably get a free upgrade/update to the next gen cards with comparable if not better performance a win-win situation (minus inconvenience of the time your PC would be without a card during RMA process of course).
