Hi, I am looking to upgrade from my MSI RX580 Gaming X gpu to a Vega 56, i have 2 to choose from and don't mind the looks of either but i would appreciate some guidance from those who have either of these cards.
1. Sapphire Vega 56 pulse 8gb (£289.99)
2. MSI Vega 56 Air Boost OC 8gb (£299.99)

I am playing 1080 games atm but will be moving to 1440 in about 6 months time when i can buy a new monitor, my system specs are:
  • MSI B450M Mortar
  • AMD Ryzen 2600X
  • Corsair vengance LPX 3000mhz 16gb (2 x 8)
  • EVGA Supernova G3 650w
Thanks

I have the Pulse. And that's what I'd get to be honest if I had the choice again. I believe it runs quieter and looks better.

The only downside is the power connectors in the middle.

The Sapphire by far. Never pick a blower-style cooler unless have a very specific need, such as in an ITX system. Having (briefly) owned the Pulse, it's a very good and pretty quiet cooler, especially if you undervolt as you should to get the best out of Vega. Sapphire are the go-to brand for AMD cards in general really. They very rarely produce a bad card and are usually the outright best on the market.

Apologies for jumping in on this thread but just wanted to say thanks for the heads up about the forthcoming deal on the Pulse Vega 56! My old rig is currently minus a GPU after my Zotac 780 bit the dust a few monts ago. The Sapphire Vega 56 will very likely be what I replace it with!

Considering how badly the Kepler cards aged and Nvidia has officially move it to legacy status, now is definitely the right time to upgrade.

It will be a huge jump in performance (like 80-100% boost in performance at least).

Thanks for the response. I wasn’t quite sure what sort of performance jump to expect, I should say that the rest of my system is far from up to date so something else will be bottlenecking the GPU for the time being but the Vega 56 looks to me at least like the best bang for buck around at the min and should last me a while the rest of the system is updated around it. This will be my first ever AMD GPU (at least in a gaming rig) so I look forward to trying it out!

What's the the spec of the rest of your system?

Rest of my system is currently as below:

CPU: i5 2500k
Cooler: Titan Fenrir Evo Extreme
Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V Gen3
RAM: 16Gb Corsair Vengeance
PSU: Corsair TX850 V2
OS Hard Drive: 256Gb Samsung 830 SSD
Hard Drive 2: 1Tb Western Digital Black
Case: Coolermaster CM690 MkII

Not seen many updates since 2011 when I got it, aside from RAM and the SSD.
