I think this is one example where celebrity power has enabled the issues to be raised here and actually become newsworthy.
I doubt this would be front page news on the BBC today if Clooney, Ellen and others had not called the boycott.
The boycott itself is meaningless of course, The Sultan doesn't care about the profits of those hotels - I'm sure the land they are on alone is worth the investment hold.
