Would a BMW 1 series, 2013, with say 70-80k on the clock be a money pit ?

Or should I stick to looking at something like a Golf or Focus. Got about £7k to spend, preferably automatic.

Maintenance is gonna cost more but no reason for that mileage to be a money pit.

On choosing between the two, that all depends on how much disposable you are willing to spare for servicing etc.

Thanks.

I am surprised that anything but the worst of the current 1 series would be available for 7k.

Well that answers my question does it not.

It won’t be the current one, it’ll be the earlier pre facelift example....

That said, only 9 such cars on Autotrader and none stand out as particularly desirable tbh!

I’d say - for this money OP - the Focus would be a better bet although I wouldn’t want the automatic variant.

A 2013 1 Series is an F20. The current 1 Series is still the F20.
Yes, I’m well aware of that which is why I specifically referred to the pre facelift one which isn’t current, or putting it another way, we’re you to go and buy a current model 1 Series tomorrow, it would be the facelift example which the OP’s budget isn’t.

Therefore it’s not current despite still having the same model designation.

I've got a 3 series 2010, bought 3 years ago with 126k on the clock and its brilliant.
Only cost is tyres and a wheel bearing, the dribbling shockers were my choice to replace.

Oh and the remap was my choice as well.

Like any car when you buy - pot luck.
