Balloons should be banned...

Yeah I agree .I'd support a. World Wide ban.
People releasing them should be fined for littering

The release of Balloons not only stupid but it pollutes the environment and kills wildlife...

Worldwide ban on balloons

Just watched my local news and the beaches are littered with them...and some where from released from Germany....

Disgusting

It's amazing how you have missed the most important part of the argument for banning them too.

Helium is a finite resource used to cool MRI machines in hospitals, etc.

Helium is lighter than air. So when it's extracted and used to fill balloons the helium literally floats off into space where it can never be harvested again.

Bare in mind this is something that is used in hospitals, etc to help people.

I agree, ban them, even the ones not filled with helium. They are not a necessity in life and have potential to cause harm to wildlife.

If we banned balloons we wouldn't use the helium in the first place....Its amazing how you missed the most important part..

:p

Ban balloons , no pollution and harm to wildlife ...no need to waste helium...

There is market demand for balloons, if you ban them, it will just lead to them being sold on the black market and without any regulation. We could have dangerous balloons being sold that haven't been made to a decent standard.

Go on then ? What standard
? Why would this matter after popping in a beach in another country

Well i heard in the black market, when balloons were banned in Austria in the 1980's, they sold a lot of balloons with lead in them, that is highly poisonous and would be worse for the animals.

He didn't miss that, he agreed with it and pointed out that (in his opinion) you'd missed one of the most important arguments for it.

idk, it must be. people buy drugs even though they could go to prison, what is to say people who are addicted to balloons wont risk prison to get them after they have been banned?

Is balloon addiction a thing ?

I know drugs have a physical dependency due to the chemical reward in the brain and body

But balloons ? Drive people to steal from their own mothers and drive them to a slow suicide driven by withdrawal and death
?

Most balloons (the common stretchy ones that you get in multiplacks of different colours) are made with latex which is 100% natural and will decompose in 1-3 years - about the same speed as an oak leaf. I see no reason for these to be banned. However, just releasing one and letting it land wherever is littering and should be dealt with as such.

The silvery balloons - the type you see in different shapes mounted on a stick or printed with a picture and commonly filled with helium are a metal/plastic mix and do not decompose and should be recycled. I would favour a ban on them.

I imagine you could find a case of balloon addiction somewhere :p

People get addicted to everything and anything as psychological addiction is quicker and probably stronger than physical addiction
