Hey Guys,

Looking to get back into PC gaming at entry level with room to expand and upgrade. I have set a budget of 700 currently but may be able to go above that a bit. Need full spec aside from keyboard and mouse. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again

A smidge over budget but it's a nice case (available in many colours for spousal approval), a non-entry-level Ryzen CPU, and a 144 Hz monitor. I'm sure @orbitalwalsh and @Plec will be able to refine it a bit. You'll also need a Windows license.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £806.09 (includes shipping: £17.22)

i'd probably up the budget slightly to £750.

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £541.14 (includes shipping: £13.20)

rx580 4gb for £150. anything higher and getting a £200 nvidia 1660 is the better choice. for £150, this is priced right.
also notice that i have not specced a CPU, nor a power supply as i think you can get better deals from elsewhere.
namely: ryzen 2600 for £144.98 and corsair CX550M (part number: CP-9020102-UK) for £55.15. both come with free shipping from a reputable - even more so than ocuk - retailer
this brings the total cost of the build to £743 :)

this has made my smile and laugh after seeing my forum inbox this morning :D

shame OP posted after Aorus bundle stopped and AMD stopped free games... could have has 3 games with that asus rx 580 and ryzen 2600

Dare you link PCP for a thread about how to mount an older noctua cooler on LGA 1151 boards...
You got mail for that? Guessing because it's an indirect link to the site - seems a bit harsh considering all that you do for the community.

But rules are rules: - "It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose!"

walk the line. don't cross it lol :p

Prop cost OCUK selling a Cooler haha

I will have a look through the above options and ask questions

Take your time, around 11am tomorrow new week of sales should kick in ;)

would this case fit this build? Also Is this probably best build on here?

yes

i'd probably be more biased towards my spec above.
reason being - 1600x doesn't come with a cooler, so you'll need to budget for one too.
2600 trumps 1600x in games - due to generational improvements and newer self-overclocking algorithms
16gb ram in my spec
asus prime b450m-k is a terrible motherboard
580 4gb is half the vram compared to the spec above, but as i said - "rx580 4gb for £150. anything higher and getting a £200 nvidia 1660 is the better choice. for £150, this is priced right."
and for 1080p gaming, 4gb is sufficient for the life of the card.
also, VA panels are notorious for being very smeary with fps games, especially the cheap ones. better to go for a solid TN panel instead. also the rx580 probably wouldn't be able to run the panel at it's full 144hz refresh rate. 75hz is probably the sweetspot between price/performance.

in conclusion, this would be my recommendation now (added your proposed case):
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £467.07 (includes shipping: £18.12)

as my prior build, i haven't specced parts that you can get cheaper elsewhere. for the rest of the parts, ocuk are price competitive.
namely:
1) ryzen 2600 (part number: YD2600BBAFBOX) for £147.20
2) corsair 16gb 3000mhz RAM (part number: CMK16GX4M2D3000C16) for £84.89
3) corsair CX550M (part number: CP-9020102-UK) for £55.15.
all these 3 components, again, can be bought at the same place - and has free shipping.
total build cost = ~£755

Would grab these deals while they're hot unless you disagree and bypassed them intentionally.
ah no i didnt. my bad, well spotted! :)
