I finally had time to get the game up to a decent standard.
Have to say on tweaking the experience, i'm enjoying a lot more. You can definitely see the engine they're using and the way they've implemented upon it is the way forward. Racing on a full on 24 multiplayer on Monza was a joy with the weather changes, wet patches, and track physics that just don't exist in regular AC. Finally it felt like on the edge racing, the car was constantly kicking out in a way that I've not experienced in regular AC before.
Messing around with very few in game settings, with nearly all on epic/ultra, I had it nice and fluid and as enjoyable as AC, performance wasn't a problem. It still lacks that sharpness that PC2 has though, even though I had the SS at 1.8 and everything looked ok..ish close up cars and trackside,. As soon as cars or trackside got 10 feet in front though, it looked worse or no better than Truck Sim in VR, a smudgy mess.
Having played Pcars 2.0 with the scale at 2.0 with everything ramped up and being wowed by the experience, that feeling of it being improved by using a higher resolution headset was firmly in my mind. Competizone needs something to get it to that level in terms of the looks in VR, a layer of grease that needs removing. Everything else they nailed it, really pleased with the physics and feedback I was getting through the wheel.
