Until AMD are competitive Nvidia aren't gonna drop prices. The Vega 7 was so disappointing IMO
They are competitive in nearly all segments, in fact they have the better offerings in most.
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Minings supposed to be going to boom again, if it hasn't started to already.
You’ve answered your own question really. Two ‘If’s’ in your first sentence alone. What If you don’t get a good card what if you can’t/don’t improve cooling then your right back at stage one.
What if you buy a cheaper card with better performance and you don’t need to mod it?
I’d argue an awful lot more have thought **** that to GPU prices and walked away from PC gaming - I can think of a few in my own circle of friends - frankly, I don’t blame them.nope it hasn't stopped but people have been reconditioned into thinking £350-400 for a **70 is a good deal.....

Imagine how much I'll get for my 1080Ti when that happens, 2k? 4K for a 2080ti?
it depends is you want 60hz or 144hz. I Vega 64 is probably best bang for buck if you want 144hzis the 1070 the best budget card for 1440p?
dont know much about amd these days
You will need a 2080 or a Vega 7 if you want decent frames
a 1070 was ment to be an entry 4k card when it came out I dont get how things change so much.
Games get more demanding
