Hi

After some great help on this forum with regards to choosing spec I bought all the bits from overclockers and built up the computer yesterday.

I've ran into a problem. I've got a red vga light on the motherboard and can't get any signal to the monitor.

Specs
Ryzen 5 2600
MSI gaming pro carbon b450
2x8g ram corsair
Rx vega 56 sapphire.
500g SSD.
650w antec gold

Now all the lights and fans on the pc come on inc the cpu. Now I have connected the graphics card to the psu with 2x 6 pin connector, and the graphics card has light on it but the fans on the actual graphics card aren't spinning?

What I've done so far.

- double checked all connections are in.
- reset the cmos
- tried both pci slots for the graphics card.
- tried 1x stick of ram.
- tried only 1x 6 pin connector to the graphics card and tried no power to the graphics card and no light whatsoever.
- checked my motherboard manufacturing date and it's 19/02.

I'm thinking there might be either a problem with the mobo or graphics card. Unfortunately I haven't got any spare parts to eliminate one or the other.

I did try taking the graphics card out completely and plugging the monitor into the mobo, had the same problem and then read that the ryzen 5 2600 has no built in graphics card?

I'm a bit stuck now and on my way to work, so any ideas would be great.

Thanks

I know it's not ideal but could you borrow a graphics card from anyone? any old rubbish would do, just as a means of elimination. Not always an option, and you do seem to have addressed it but thought I would double check as you have done pretty much everything else you could.

I've changed over the pci-e cable and it's working now. I didn't connect the extra 2 pin bit on the 6 pin connector.

Yeah you put '2x6 pins'....it's meant to be 2x8pins isn't it :)

@VortexA1 Yeap ...... the little handbook says 2x6 pin connectors. So I didn't connect the 2 extra 2pin bits like an idiot. All works now and also used two separate 6+2 (8pin) connectors from the psu as @Danny75 advice.

Might start to play around with the vega 56 settings next week with the undervolt and overclock.
