Just had a company quote me to remove the old wired system and install a new Pyronix system using the existing cabling. Does this seem expensive?

The cost to install the system to this specification will be £454.52 + VAT, a total of
£545.42.
The Pyronix cloud account that the system connects to, to enable you to control the
system from your smart phone, is free for the first year, after which an annual fee of
£36.00 including VAT will be payable to keep the account active. The Pyronix app
required to gain access to the system from a smart phone will need to be installed on
each device, this app is free of charge.
As discussed, a wireless receiver can be fitted to the system, which would enable us to
fit wireless, battery operated contacts to the front door, lounge door and kitchen patio
doors. We would also fit a heavy-duty contact to the garage door and this would be
connected to a battery-operated wireless transmitter. The cost to add these devices to
the system would be £305.15 + VAT, £366.18 in total. This cost is based on the
devices being installed at the same time as the main installation, and as discussed,
fitting door contacts to the kitchen and lounge doors may not provide any additional
cover other than letting you know if the doors have been left open when arming the
system.

DETECTION SCHEDULE
CIRCUIT 1 Entrance hall (entry route)

of coverage of 11 metres by 78 degrees is mounted in the rear right-hand corner at ceiling

height, and directing its beams to the far side. (Move existing from rear right corner)
CIRCUIT 3 Kitchen (instant)
One Optex RX40 passive infra-red movement detector having a maximum depth

One Optex RX40 passive infra-red movement detector having a maximum depth

CONTROL EQUIPMENT
The control equipment will comprise a Pyronix Euro 46 V10 complete with Home control +
App software incorporating the following features:
Remote arming and disarming from a smart phone.
Text message notification of faults events and alarms.
Up to 76 hard wired or wireless devices can be connected to the system via wired or wireless
expanders.
Liquid crystal English text display, with zone description.
1000 event log.
1 full set and 5-part set facilities. The part set facilities enable partial setting of the system,
i.e. at night, when the premises are occupied, the system will arm only the down stairs.
80 user codes.
Built in personal attack feature on keypad
The control panel is to be located in the stair’s cupboard. (Replace existing)
The remote keypad used for setting and unsetting the system is to be installed above the door
to the stairs cupboard. (Replace existing)
The equipment supplied and installed complies with British and European requirements for
end of line resistor wiring to provide tamper protection to cables and devices. The equipment
is mains powered and has an internal rechargeable 7 AH battery to provide a minimum of 12
hours stand-by operation in the event of a mains failure.
A programmable delay set to customer requirements and indicated by an audible warning
given by the low power internal sounder, enables setting and unsetting of the system to be
carried out.
SIGNALLING
Audible Sounder(s)
One Pyronix Delta E external sounder complete with strobe, is to be fitted externally to the
front elevation of the premises. The sounder has an automatic timer to limit the duration of
operation to a maximum of fifteen minutes. The strobe will cut off with the sounder. The
sounder is self-actuating such that it will continue to operate should it be tampered with, via
its internal battery, again for a maximum of fifteen minutes. (Replace existing)
One decoy sounder is to be fitted to the rear elevation of the premises. (Replace existing)

£545 for

4x PIR, 1x pad, 1x control panel, 1x bell, 1x decoy bell

Plus £366 for

Wireless contacts on 3 doors, garage door.

I mean It's not far off what I paid to have a very similar system overhauled a few months ago. I got 5 quotes and picked a middle price of the guy I liked the most.

that unit is pretty much the upgraded version of mine. i've got 4xpir, 2xwireless door contacts and 1x wirless window contact/vibration sensor plus the sounder and a decoy with the main panel and that was installed for £560 about 2 years ago now

Still looking into this (I take a while to get these things done!). From research I think I'd prefer a Texecom system. Has a local company quote me the following for £764 in VAT. I read that Texecom is slightly dearer but more reliable (?).

• Replace the existing control panel for a new Texecom 24 control panel

  • Texecom SmartCom

• Replace the existing Keypad for a new Texecom LCDP Keypad.

• The existing wired Optex detectors sited in the Hall, Lounge and Landing will be retained.

• A new Optex PIR will be fitted to the existing cable in the Kitchen.

• One Radio Door Contact will be sited on the Front Door

• One Radio expander will be fitted adjacent to the new control panel to allow for the additional Radio devices.

• The two existing external siren covers will be replaced.

I was set on a pyronix but in the end the fitter persuaded my to texecom premier elite - no subscription and more customisable

I paid around £1000 for the Pemier elite + smartcom - 2x keypads, 7xPIRs, 2xbell boxes, 1x panic button, 3x door contacts and a master blaster Klaxxon internal siren
all wired

brilliant alarm, look at mounting a master blaster klaxxon internally if you want a proper deterrent

Do not even think about mounting one of these inside your house!! Your wife will love you the first false alarm you get with one of these at 2am, or when you come home drunk and set the alarm off, when she has gone to bed. It will wake the dead and scare the kids to death. Plus johnny scrote has a manual over-ride for these, its called a ball pein hammer, takes about 4 seconds to over-ride it. Leave them outside where they belong.

Haha!
we’ve never had a false alarm, it’s takes a double error to trigger it
1st trigger and both alarm box’s got off, 2nd trigger master blaster goes off

It’s hidden and in an arkward position, there’s no way you could disable it will a hammer even with prior knowledge

... oh and it has its own UPS thats not even on the same floor as it

Been to enough burglaries to know Alarms and internal sounders last seconds against a scrote with a hammer. Believe you and me they are experts at ripping them off the wall or just reducing them to debris.

It’s not like there hard to find that why you add secondary like a masterblaster with added strobes, relay cut the lighting circuit. With all that going on it will be hard for them to leave you probably find them curled up into a ball crying for mummy or twitching
