Hi there

Me and the Mrs want to get away for a week or 10 days, sometimes it makes sense to do 10 if value for money is better.

Criteria is:
- Private Villa OR Hotel for adults ONLY, sea view, beach location.
- Largish pool
- Room with sea view, balcony
- Some basic shops nearby be nice
- Beach close by (sand) would be nice, closer better.
- Budget, £1000 (hotel), can stretch to £1500 (villa), but don't want to go insane as were all of to Turkey in September and that Villa cost a small fortune, plus with an NC500 planned and some weekends away, this is just a quick get away.
- Weather: Guaranteed 25-35c sun in June, can go anywhere really, but want to limit travel time to a max of 6hr on plane and something closer like Portugal, Malta, Greece or Canary Islands would be more ideal.
- Hot tub / whirl pool be nice, but this generally smashes the price, just be good bonus. As would stuff like pool table, good TV, WiFi etc.

I have only looked on Jet2villas found a couple.

Any recommendations please.

P.S. Late June, Early July!

I am of course biased, but Cyprus? Guaranteed weather, and can't really be too far away from the beach. Travel time is 5 hours from UK so meets that criteria.

I think you might struggle on price though. The other thing is, there's loads of villas however they are all overlooking each other. Again if you pay more you'll find something that is not overlooked, but prices are relatively high as it is.

If you want a relatively relaxed trip, Paphos would be my choice.

For something a bit more cosmopolitan Limassol, although prices will reflect this.

For the best beaches on the island I'd go to Protaras. Just don't stay anywhere on the strip, stay somewhere outside (Paralimni might be a good shout) and then it's only a 10 minute drive should you wish to go to the strip for a bit more partying.

I've booked a two week getaway in Xabia, Spain this August. Used AirBnB to spec a very similar pad as your description. After the first 10 days the inlaws are coming and I'm getting the ferry to Ibiza to meet up with some friends :p

AirBnB is a bit more of a gamble but the reviews for each owner give a picture of how professional they are

I dunno much about it but some of my relatives head up the Northish end of Mallorca for stuff like that - well away from Palma ;)

Also thinking about it, an Adults ONLY hotel, sea view on beach would also be acceptable.

As the dates also need to be late June/July it turns out, not early June.

Don't generally do villa places but if you end up looking at hotels have a look at the TUI Sensimar range if you just want to book something easy without any of the hassle. Decent adults only options.

Example, same place as your Villa, £1k all told, extra 200 if you want sea view so £1,200, breakfast and dinner included but plenty of places to eat locally if you dont want to partake in that kind of thing.

Also if you want sandy beaches, generally the canary islands are volcanic so you'll struggle. But late June / early July I wouldn't bother flying that far, loads in mainland Spain/Portugal

Skip Malta, have a look at Gozo mate

We got married there and have been back pretty much every year since, love it over there.
Pace of life is so much slower and everyone is so laid back, if I could get a job over there of the same wages I have now I'd go without hesitation lol

if yer wanting something a bit more touristy we stayed at Asterias villages a coupla years back in greece and there were like 0 children there, situated between 2 villages so plenty of choice for food and drink. If you like cocktails head to the Trap, the drinks were awesome. As for food, pretty much everywhere local was great :) not one disappointing meal when we were there for 2 weeks

I loved the part where you felt the need to 'justify' why you are going on a Jet2 holiday by naming all the other irrelevant expensive visits you have planned. Classic Gibbo. :D

Benidorm in the school holidays......go on, you'll love it

Cheap beer, chicken and chips, and reruns of only fools and horses on the pub TV

Just make sure you save some euro coins for the punch bag machines

When I put Malta, I meant Gozo I went years ago, with family, but I was the only one in my age group, think I was 30 and making friends, getting taken out by complete strangers was such an event how nice the local people were.
I always said I'd love to go back, but when I was with a girlfriend as it had very romantic properties and I'd love to share that with her.

Yes the slow pace and laid back nature is exactly me, and my Mrs is same we are not interested in parties, though the night club on the island is like the setting from Dusk till Dawn down the valley, no idea if still open but rather incredible to have such a club on such a tranquil island.

Anything you can recommend to stay in Gozo, being so long since I went, was a Villa but at time it was booked and paid by family.

P.S. Though I may have sorted a Villa in Portugal I will still re-visit Gozo at some point.

More a case of a fortune has being spent, so need to slum it a bit more, looking £1000-£1500 is cheap for a Villa as in that is where the OK ones start, some Villas are 20k a day, which is quite frank insane, but for some that is pocket change and I certainly cannot afford.

It is not our scene.

@Gibbo check out Javea in the Costa Blanca. About 45-60 mins from Alicante and there's plenty of villas available just outside of the town. You can drive into the town in about 15/20 mins where there's plenty of restaurants, shops, beaches etc.

I used to go almost every year as we had friends with a villa inbetween Javea and Denia (another possible place to check out), so would recommend it.

James' Villa & Villa Plus are good sites to check out btw.

Found this, looks nice:

Any experience of the area? Seems weather will be 25-30c and sunny, good enough, villa looks nice, modern, like the outdoor bed, pool next to it, so good for relax and fun, grab some wine, grab some burgers, BBQ's. :D

I was just the other side of Playa Blanca near Marina Rubicon last year. I thought Playa Blanca itself was a bit of a crap hole so we only went there to drive through it when going to the west side of the island. The places either side of Playa Blanca were nice, we were really happy where we stayed.

The weather was great but Lanzarote is quite windy, there was nearly always a wind blowing which during the day I liked as it kept me a bit cooler but it did make for quite chilly evenings.

Yeah we go quite often, we planned to go to Menorca for a coupla weeks as a change change this year.
Then booked another 2 weeks in Gozo as well haha!

If it's been a while since you've been there's been some big changes, notably more money on the island now and a lot of much newer vehicles compared to even a few years back!
Still tho the people are the same, laid back and very casual :)
They've also spent more money in restoring/redoing things, the wine festival is normally pretty decent and well worth a look, try and book around one ;)
yeah the night club is still there, probably the one thing on the island we've not been too haha! :p

We've been in farmhouses, villas, apartments but normally try to stay around the Xlendi or Victoria area for transport links.
First thing to do when getting there is always grab a weekly bus pass haha, enjoy the random drinks out there too much to drive.
Well that and all of the hire cars are tiny 1L's with plastic tyres that can barely make the hills over there

There's a couple of villa's we've stayed at in the past when there's a lot of us go at fontana, just outside victoria, theyre both owned by the same bloke and right on the valley.
Sunlight in the garden from AM and both have pools and spacious chilling area's, coupla lemon/lime trees as well great for a relaxing G+T in the evening
