Hi, intermittenly pc is not displaying, starts up fine but no post beeps (not sure if they still do this).
Pretty sure its not loading windows or ubuntu (dual boot) as when it does boot up i get no message about previous shut down.

Pc spec is
I3570k @4.2
1080ti
4 by 4gb ddr3
2 ssds
1 sshd
Usb 3 expansion card (for occulus)

First I thought it was the 1080 so I tried with it removed, and replaced with a 7950.
Next thought power supply (changed for an 850w antec gold) as it didn't seem to happen when using on-board gpu.
I've now removed everything including memory and still got no display.
Booted up this morning with 2 sticks of mem in and it posted, refitted ssd and it work fine.
Reinstalled the other 2 sticks still working fine, just come back to boot up and nothing again.

Thoughts welcome, although I'm thinking motherboard and time for upgrade ( hurry up amd)

On mobile phone so bear with me:

Did you update your BIOS to latest release when you installed the 1080? Older boards, usually required/benefited from added PCIe/GPU support with later BIOS releases.

Also, the 10 series cards do have known cold boot issue i.e.black screen (I did with my 1070) - look at card manufacturer they may have BIOS update for your card. *I should add when using the DP. Using HDMI doesn't have this issue - so another simple test.

See, my above post too - just as relevant as you may have a cocktail of minor problems.

Have you removed the clock and tested? It may well need tweaking...

Also, try replacing CMOS battery.
Next time i get it to the bios screen I'll do that, although when the 4.4 clock started to play up a couple of years back it resorted to default

1080s been working fine for ages using dvi as occulus was in HDMI. This issue is occurring with no gpu in pci slot.
Cheers for pointers :)

I'm guessing you've done a good old fashioned 'clear cmos'? You may need to do the Full Monty version too - remove battery for a few minutes (although I would replace this, as mentioned before, as a failing cr2032 can cause mayhem).

*apologies if missed anything still on mobile :/

EDIT: @Mr.Cookie back on a computer.

Your BIOS may be corrupt reading back your replies - bought on from a failing clock and countless failed posts (degraded over time - may need an increment more voltage or bump it down a few MHz - but for now remove altogether to rule it out.).

If you don't have any luck with clearing the CMOS/new battery i would consider stripping it down to bare components - outside of the case - and once stable re-flash the BIOS to latest release and then build up again bit by bit - just in case you have a dodgy lead/drive/USB attachment that's being a PITA.

Additional: What is the brand/model of your PSU? (If CMOS/BIOS tests don't help - you will need to rule this out)

picked up an itx 1155 mobo and been up and running for 2 weeks now, rift is even working on it's usb2 ports, only downside is theirs only 4 so none free due to keyboard, mouse, rift power and rift sensor. Roll on 7/7

Thanks for feedback - useful and glad you found a solution.

Yep, 7/7 can't come quick enough - you dipping your toe on release?
