So over the next few months I'm going to be replacing my mobo, ram and CPU currently running a i5 3570k, 16gig corsair vengeance and asrock extreme 4 gen 3 mobo. Had this for a long time now and want to future proof for another few years again.
Its pay day today so I'm going to start with ram as I want to go amd this time and with the new mobo and cups just round the corner I figured I'd get those over the next 2 months and the ram now. What ram would you reccomend? PC is used mainly for vr, league of legends, csgo and a few triple A titles when I have the time. I know what I want to upgrade too is overkill for everything except vr but I want it to last a long time. Any advice is great as ice not purchased any ram in about 8 years...

I appreciate this doesn't really help, but why would you buy the memory before everything else and then have it sitting unused and untested, possibly for months?

I'm also planning to upgrade from a 3570K later this year. To me, it makes far more sense to make decisions about memory once the new boards and processors have actually been in people's hand for a while and there's some real-world information out there.

^^ this, but also ram prices are still going down so may be a few quid cheaper in 2 or 3 months.

Though what we do know is that on Intel systems it barely matters, faster is faster, but almost unnoticeable so get which ever you like the look of or price of. On 1st and 2nd gen rysen speed matters, but it's a double edged sword. The faster the ram the better cpu performance you'll see but the harder it is to get the ram stable at the rated speed. We can guess that 3rd gen ryzen will be the same and from what we're hearing at computex it will be easier to get faster ram speeds working. So for 3rd gen we really need to wait for reviews and for people to specifically test different ram kits with it to find any pit falls. :)

League doesn't run great on Ryzen, at least it didn't on the 1700/2700x.

mainly because i cant save to save my life, ive tried and tried and tried but then break into bit by bit. i suppose i could give it a family member to put away. wanting to go ryzen for the price really intel has always been overly expensive

Buying a pc bit by bit is a extremely bad idea and one of the worst ways to buy. When you buy something and put it away awaiting further purchases the warranty on that item and the others coming after it is being wasted. You may have a component that is dead on arrival but you won't know until you have all of the parts. In the meantime you only have 28 days to contact the retailer about a faulty item which they will then issue a RMA, test it when you send it back and if found faulty issue you a new one. If you are outside that 28 days the component will have to go back to the manufacturer for further testing and replacement or repair and this will take much longer. You need to save up and buy the components all in one go. If you have difficulties in saving then you should give the money to your parents or other close family member to look after until you have enough to buy everything. Whatever you do don't buy components a part at a time.

in that case ill just give the money to someone to watch lol im good for monitors as already running a dual set up with a black widow chroma keyboard, rival mouse and thermal take core p5 case
